Or should I phone or what?

Phone.

That way you don't make an unnecessary journey because they're so snowed under with sending out cancellation messages.

It saved me a pointless (and risky) trip to Guy's where the cancellation text came after the time of the appointment.

WeKnowFrogsGoShaLaLaLaLa · 30/03/2020 09:44

Def check, hosp called me to rearrange an appt that had to be cancelled by me last week, to next week. Some depts are still open.

wineandcheeseplease · 30/03/2020 09:46

Mine was still on for this week but I have a 3 year old that I'm not risking taking to a hospital appointment that isn't urgent so I asked for a phonecall

Elouera · 30/03/2020 09:51

My outpatient appointment was cancelled 2 weeks ago- they called me.

OH contacted GP about worsening sleep apnoea over 2 weeks ago and he still hasn't had a call back.

When is your appointment? I'd call them. I think it depends if its a condition that should be monitored closely, or just a routine check that could wait. If the appointment is this week, I'm surprised you havent be contacted already if its being cancelled.

MutatedCat · 30/03/2020 09:54

I was called. My appointment has been changed to a telephone consultation. I guess if I needed examining, I would have to wait, or send in a photo! (Orthopaedics)

Reastie · 30/03/2020 09:59

I’m wondering the same thing as have paed apt for dd on Friday. Must call them today to check. I don’t want to risk going but I also don’t want to miss it if it’s my only chance to see them so I’m hoping they’ll be understanding if they want to maintain the apt.

longearedbat · 30/03/2020 10:29

I had a private consultation with a cardiologist cancelled, although I was offered a telephone consultation - didn't see how that would have worked really!

notapizzaeater · 30/03/2020 15:22

We've had all ours cancelled and are now on,phone consultations

ButterflyBitch · 31/03/2020 09:10

Not in a hospital but my sons physio/ot appointment for dyspraxia assessment has been changed to a telephone appointment. How can they diagnose it over the phone I’ve no idea!

SoapyChoc · 31/03/2020 09:13

Definitely phone to check. I had an MRI yesterday which I called last week to check was still on and it was.

Bluebelltulip · 31/03/2020 09:16

Phone them, I had one on the phone yesterday and the doctor was very clear that other care still needs to continue.

Hearhoovesthinkzebras · 31/03/2020 09:20

I've had two hospital appointments in the past week and both were changed to telephone appointments. One I received a text message to tell me but the other I was notified by letter (but still got the routine text reminder that I was expected at the hospital). Had I not received the letter I wouldn't have known so maybe it's best to phone them?

ShanghaiDiva · 31/03/2020 09:43

Phone and check. Our hospital had a recorded message that all out patient appts were going ahead. This was last week.

missyB1 · 31/03/2020 09:46

Getting Dh to phone about his appointment today. It’s supposed to be for next Monday at a hospital one hours drive away. The website doesn’t say anything and we’ve not had a cancellation letter.

AuntieStella · 31/03/2020 09:50

Ring.

I had a routine screening coming up, so rang and was told (as I expected) that it was postponed, and I need to nothing as they will send out new invitations idc.

No cancellation letter/text has arrived, so don't count on being told. Gomsnd find out. Assume that anything routine will be postponed.

Caucasianchalkcircles · 31/03/2020 10:08

I was due to have an ct angio today. Got the appointment in the post on the friday but the following monday it was cancelled by a very breezy opd clerk.
No imminent appointment with my consultant so not sure what's going on.

Lem0nandg1nger · 31/03/2020 10:10

I’d rang, ours still went ahead. The wait after if you miss it when you shouldn’t have will be huge.
