What, do you think, are the risks of walking past someone?

On my daily walk, I’m careful to give people a wide berth. There’s been the odd occasion where one or two people have passed within a metre of me. If neither of us coughed or spoke, is there any risk of catching the virus from one another?

Very, very little risk. The virus isn’t airborne, so very fleeting proximity where nobody coughs or sneezes is very unlikely to cause transmission.

Very very very low risk

Pretty much zero. Spread from travellers to Wuhan was people who spend time together in an enclosed space. We need to calm the hysteria.

Very low risk, the droplets are heavier than air so they don't spread far unless expelled from a sneeze or cough. As far as I can see you have to be in fairly close proximity to someone for an extended time to be at significant risk.

I do hold my breath though when passing just to be on the safe side Grin

So glad to read these replies. If I go out for a walk, I’m tensed up most of the time worrying about getting away from people.

Very very low do have daily exercise its important just take care touching things. For example we have a steel kissing gate into the local wood. If you have to touch something I have been taking gloves for this then washing them once we are back, same for wooden styles ect. Still fairly low risk but just in case.

I absolutely wouldn't worry about it whatsoever, and I am a prepper who started prepping for isolation back in January.

I would worry about walking alongside someone at a constant 2m for a sustained period of time, but not about passing someone and continuing on my way.
