Has anyone’s child or teenager had it, or you think they had it?

Just curious, as I think my young teen might have it. However the symptoms are mild and no fever.

Yes my daughter. High but intermittent fever for three days, sore throat, complained of aches.

Drivingbuttercup · 29/03/2020 23:29

8 and 6 year old. Whilst we had more obvious symtoms, they complained of headaches, temperature and general fatigue.

Piixxiiee · 29/03/2020 23:37

Yes my 4 year old. GP said they presume it was coronavirus. Also my 6 year old. Totally different. Both had mild colds, 6 year old had temperature and sore head, ear for a day- nothing major. 4 year old had a temperature for 8 days, lethargic, sick due to fever, diarrhoea too. Conjunctivitis and full blown cold after the original start of it 10 days ago. Gp consultations (video) treat as coronavirus.

Both myself and dh were ill too.

Notcontent · 29/03/2020 23:38

Interesting. My dd has had a sore throat and loss of taste/smell but no fever.

Both my kids had crazily high temps, were a bit breathless , had sore heads and muscle aches.

However that was the second week of January - so too early I think? Also dh and I didn't get it. I did get a cold a couple of weeks later but only had a slight fever and sore throat really.

Nikki360 · 30/03/2020 00:04

My 24 year old daughter and 10 year old daughter were both ill second week in January. Never seen either of them so ill. High temperature I couldn't get under control oldest had upset stomach pains everywhere youngest was sick, she complained of these awful pains in her eyes. Sore heads and my oldest had the most hacking cough. Lethargic no appetite then after about six days fine. Took both to doc he said flu and viral infection. I'm convinced it was Covid19 but people dismiss it saying couldn't have been, I hope one day they can get tested and find out,

Nikki360 · 30/03/2020 00:05

Also myself and dh didn't get it. My middle daughter had been ill the week before milder symptoms though.

Nikki360 · 30/03/2020 00:06

And last thing I forgot my youngest has been complaining of feeling breathless sometimes since January. I had app at doctors to see about it but obviously it was cancelled.

amprev · 30/03/2020 00:08

Yes, I think so - my 13 year old - fever for around 3 days, wiped out for around a week including sore throat and headaches. Cough wasn't persistent though which still makes me wonder.

fikel · 30/03/2020 00:10

My DD had temp and headache behind the eyes for 24 hours, left with no sense of taste which is just beginning to come back after 7 days

middleager · 30/03/2020 00:11

The Chief Medical Officer said that if you live in the same house you are highly likely/almost certain to catch it too.

Nikki if you are in the same house, it sounds like this may have been something else.

My son (13) had a high temperature for 2 days, felt dizzy/sick. This was 10 days ago. He's never ill, never.
But it would be unwise for us to jump to conclusions.
All other 3 members of our house are fine - we have 4 more days in self isolation left though.

TechGinny · 30/03/2020 00:12

My eldest and youngest have both had high temperatures and headaches - eldest has been droopy and lethargic as well, whereas the youngest was still fairly bright and upbeat.

I've had symptoms of a burning chest, mild temp, sore throat, dry cough, breathlessness and fatigue, all reasonably mildly and coming and going over the course of a week. I've also been really congested and a bit snotty though, so who knows whether we've all had it. My middle child has been completely unscathed so far.

Titsywoo · 30/03/2020 00:14

Yes at end of feb i felt wiped out and stayed in bed for a week. A week later in early March my 13yo was ill for about a week with fever, shaking, sore throat, bad aching all over but particularly neck and back then a dry cough. A week after that 15yo has similar but not as bad for her.

squaresandsquares · 30/03/2020 00:17

My 7yo persistent dry cough, never seen her with that before. Temps and general unwell.
5yo chesty cough and high temp.
I have had swollen painful ear and fatigued
I really think.my 7yo has it but not sure about me and 5 yo

Nikki360 · 30/03/2020 00:17

Middleager you are right that's the one thing that doesn't add up. I suppose I'm hopeful they have had it if that makes sense.

notquitethefullshilling · 30/03/2020 00:23

Think my 13yo had it mid feb. Said it was hard to breathe, high temp and raging sore throat and headache. Lasted 3 days. This was before there were many cases here so thought she was exaggerating the 'struggling to breathe'! Suspect DH had it around 10 days later but public health said it was unlikely as he hadn't had contact with anyone known to have had it.

springtimeishere · 30/03/2020 00:28

Dd(6) has it now I think, that or flu. She started Wednesday with high fever, Thursday 40.3 temp coming down only for short periods with calpol vomited once , sleeping lots, aching all over, very bad headache, Friday still high temp, mild sore throat, not eating as everything tastes bad, white tongue. Very bad bellyache. Saturday - high temp, sore throat, fatigue, bellyache, vomited again, today - diarrhoea, short of breath, intense dry cough but only when breathing in deep.

This evening paramedics came to check her over, docs phoning in the morning and hoping they give antibiotics...fingers crossed
I'm probably more paranoid though as she has pneumonia when she was 2.
Stay safe everybody Daffodil

glitterfarts · 30/03/2020 00:29

Yes, DH and DD1 were ill in Jan for a few days mildly - virus - I did idly wonder about corona as we know it had been going in China since mid-Dec at least and no flights were stopped.

Then DD2 and I were horrendously ill for over a week at beginning of Feb. Sort of flu-like, but not flu (I've had flu).
Sore throat, headache, muscle aches, fever that wouldn't come down at all with medicine. We didn't leave the house for 10 days and started coughing, still coughing now. I am ever so slightly breathless. So assuming we have had it.

I'll be taking the antibody test if offered.

hartof · 30/03/2020 00:33

I think my daughter had it three weeks ago. She was put I. Steroids which did nothing, and then antibiotics which also did nothing. She is asthmatic so he's her inhalers and is much better now. I started with similar symptoms a few days after her and would love to have the test that tells you if you've had it.

springtimeishere · 30/03/2020 00:34

Also I got poorly at the same time as dd. I haven't been as bad, I've had a persistent headache, chills as if I have fever (it never went high enough to class as fever) aches all over, mild sore throat and white tongue. Oh and I wanted to stay in bed for like 3 days. I feel fine now.
Also...we had horrible breath - like what you get when you have sore throat.

Rhapsodyinpurple · 30/03/2020 00:37

We all came down with something from mid February onwards. Headache, fever, dry cough, aches, pains, lethargy. My eldest had a night sat up as he said he felt he was drowning when he laid down, my youngest and I both had shortness of breath. My husband was ill and he normally avoids everything. It took me 4 weeks to feel better.

At that time they were only testing for Covid if you had been abroad.

inthedarkx · 30/03/2020 00:41

About 4 weeks ago my daughter who is 8 came down with a strange illness. She's never hardly this bad when she's ill. Started off with fever going very high up to 41 at some point, paracetamol wasn't lowering temp although ibuprofen was bringing it down slightly, eyes hurt to look at light, she had a headache, she had very runny nose, then a few days later she appeared to be better, temp decreased to normal, but later that day, all of a sudden she was sick all over the place, and her temp risen again and she was ill again for a few more days with temp. It was awful. But there is me and 6 children in this house ( including her in that) and the rest of us only got a mild bout of sneezing that's it. I sometimes wonder if she had it Because it was strange For her to be that ill but then we didn't get like that so then I'm thinking not..
