A question about shielding.

I am in the group told to shield myself for 12 weeks. I received my text message last week . Followed by a letter containing the same information. Plus a number of supplementary texts with other helpful information like packing a hospital bag just in case..

I have been self isolating for two, nearly three weeks but I have 2 dc with me who both drive (v rural) who have been going to buy essentials when necessary. One of my dc read the letter from the NHS a few days ago and now thinks I should register for deliveries. (The contact details are on the letter).

I have not registered as I am lucky enough to have dc here who can collect stuff when needed. However DC now think they should stop going out now in order to minimise the chances of bringing anything into the house and that I should register with the ' extremely vulnerable service' referred to in the letter last week and have someone else leave supplies on the doorstep.

I am torn with the right thing to do. Yes, if I register and they deliver with us all remaining inside I am a degree safer but I DO have DC who COULD go out and shop , leaving a delivery driver free to help someone who has no one.
Dcs argument is that the increased risk of them going out , should I catch it - I would almost definitely end up in hospital using more resource of overstretched NHS. Which is not right when the Govt has set up a service especially for people with my health issues.

What is the right thing to do. ?
