If you think you’ve had it, how do you think you caught it?

I’m trying to reassure myself that people are catching it if they still have to go out. And if you stay in the chances of getting it are negligible. Would be interesting to hear some stories...

Dd2 (4) nursery the week after half term. Or one of 3 pools she was in that week.
I got it from her.
But also a parent at dc1 school had it (but dc1 has had no symptoms except sore throat).

It is on surfaces so could be on home delivery shopping or post.

(I realised even my garden might not be ok due to cats but trying not to think of that).

I would worry more about the incubation period so unless youve been inside 2w+

We have very lovely Chinese neighbors. They've lived here close to 18 months now. Before they moved in we had two different lots of Chinese students and I'm not going to lie, they were arseholes of the highest, skankiest, noisiest order and we were chuffed when the local council clocked that the landlord who we would barely see was running an unlicensed HMO.
The family are 2 young boys and mum and dad. When the moved in mum and dad had very limited English but boys spoke a little so I would help them out. I've worked in CAB and Salvation army advice centre before so was happy to help. We gave them some books that my DD had grown out of too.
So they've become good neighbors and we get along.
At Christmas, I go mad for lights and signs and a big tree in the window, the littlest boy was very impressed and said they had to wait for New Year to have presents but he liked my lights and things. He wanted to show his grandparents, he said they had come to visit from China and he missed them, could he show them and I said of course.
They had a little English so I stood chatting with them for around 20 minutes, they were very happy to be visiting as they hadn't seen their grandchildren for quite a while.
About a week and a half after- 2 days before Christmas Eve, I felt worse than I've ever felt. As I say I love Christmas, I plan my meal for weeks and start getting it ready on Christmas Eve. I was just so tired. Like I hadn't slept for a month. Had a headache the likes of which I've never experienced and wouldn't wish on my worst enemy, it was so bad I couldn't speak without slurring. I had the shakes. I had a cough so awful but nothing would come up with it, yet I felt like something was caught in my throat. I had white lumps in the back of my throat. It felt like I had swallowed glass, I was so thirsty but even drinking water was painful- that's the only way I can describe it. Couldn't breath, especially if I laid down, but that's all I wanted to do. It felt my lungs had concrete in.
Got through Christmas, just, but can barely remember Christmas day which is sad as DP asked me quite unexpectedly to marry him.
Started to feel a little better 4 days after Christmas. Not completely, but headache went and glass feeling still there. Cough calmed a little.
Day before New Year's Eve it started again, just as bad. Couldn't breath and DP wanted to call an ambulance but I wouldn't let him as I didn't want to scare the DCs. I sat myself up all night just sipping hot water as it hurt slightly less.
2 days after New year, all calm again but cough was persistent into late January. Have had a wheeze with exercise ever since.
I think my neighbours relatives had it. I don't blame them at all, I do want to have the test though to see if it was that but I'm 99.9% convinced. DP got it from me but nowhere near as bad, DD got it a little bit (just the throat/cough) and was off school the first week back. DS got it and was more concerning as he has lung issues but was on his steroids just in case but was off school for two weeks.
