What so often happens after a war is, we celebrate, we are thankful, and then we completely forget about the soldiers and just leave them to get on with it.
Five years down the line, I would hope that our streets aren't littered with homeless broken ex NHS staff suffering with mental illness PTSD etc, with no support.
These people are laying down their lives for us. It's great that we clap on the doorstep to say thanks, but I would like a solid commitment from the government to look after these people after the crisis has ended.
They shouldn't be forgotten.
