What are my chances of catching it?

I’m pregnant, live in London and haven’t left the house for two weeks.

We don’t have a lot of food in and DH is popping out most days either for a walk or to buy supplies from our local shops (we don’t drive so can’t do a big shop and can’t get an online order).

I’ve also been ordering quite a lot of essential stuff online for our upcoming arrival so we’ve had a lot of packaging come into our flat.

I have a baby scan and midwife appointment coming up soon at the hospital that I have to attend.

I’ve been trying to stay calm but I’ve been feeling more scared about it all today after spending too much time looking at MN.

Given my circumstances, what do you think are my chances of catching CV - and if I do catch it, how likely am I to end up in hospital or die?

Nobody can tell you that.

Up until last week I've been going out to work as normal (no choice as I can't work from home), DS was attending school, I've been going out and about. I go out for exercise every day away from people and to the supermarket once a week. I've not caught it, or if I have I've had no symptoms at all.

Unfortunately I think it's just luck of the draw. Obviously the more people you come in contact with the more likely to are to catch it, or if you have bad hygiene with regards to handwashing etc.

I’m being really careful about the hand washing, as is DH.

I’m just feeling really paranoid after spending too much time online today.

It's a scary time especially with you being pregnant. Come offline for a bit if you can, have a bath, relax, read a book. MN is a great place but the coronavirus topic definitely isn't a good place if you're feeling anxious! Flowers

You already doing the right thing as you staying at home..I would try to get your husband to get few days worth of shopping in so he doesn't have to go shops every other day if possible..
If he is still working, get him to wash his hands, use sanitizer and wipe any shared surfaces regularly if possible, I don't know what sort of job is he doing..

Regarding deliveries I have had some coming past few days and they normally just leave it at front door, ring the bell and step aside, so I would just pick all up and place in spare room unopened and wash my hands after..I will open them in few days..

With the midwife and hospitality appointments coming up you just make sure you keep your distance where possible and hope for the best..
Please think positive I don't know how far you are in your pregnancy but stress and worries will not help and with doing everything you can you might also try to enjoy it as much as you can,
Wish you all the best x

Thanks. I’m scared to open all the parcels I’ve got now. They’ve been sitting in the corridor since Tuesday so should be fine to touch by now... unless the virus survives a lot longer on cardboard and plastic than we think and the experts have got it wrong!

keep your hands away from your eyes, nose and mouth is the advice.
