How on earth do you get a delivery slot?

I cannot get a single supermarket delivery slot from any supermarket anywhere. I'm in the vulnerable group and have been told not to go to shops.

I'm having to rely on friends to drop off food to supplement what we have. They are amazing lovely people, but I really can't expect them to do my shopping for me for the next 12 or so weeks.

I can't fathom how others are getting food delivered.

I managed to get one at 1am a few days ago. It's not for 3 weeks, but I'm excited! Good luck

Thank you!

Our local farm shop is doing deliveries of veg, bread, milk etc and our butcher is delivering meat.

Maybe that's an option for you OP?

Can you use Deliveroo?

occulus · 28/03/2020 09:50

I think deliveries should be reserved for the vulnerable only. I'm shopping for 2 vulnerable families plus my own whilst working full time at home, and I'm knackered

PotholeParadise · 28/03/2020 09:52

Being up all night is the key so far, combined with checking every single supermarket that has ever been known to deliver, from Asda to Iceland to Ocado.

Got one for two weeks' time by booking it at 2am.

Waitrose online deliveries website is saying they are prioritising elderly/vulnerable from data they already hold and are actively working with government to identify vulnerable customers.

We had one (Tesco) booked for yesterday. They cancelled it 5 hours before delivery 😭

Fortunately my self-isolation ends Sunday so we can probably make do until then, then I shall have to go and see what I can find.

Bit concerned my cough is still lingering though. Guidelines say that's ok but can't imagine my fellow shoppers will be impressed.

This link is for the government web site and if you are in the extremely vulnerable group

Apparently if you register here you will get slots

Thank you :)

Try your local, smaller shops. I've got deliveries from a local farm already and am going to order from a butcher and fishmonger shortly. It's nice to support the local businesses too.

Where about are you? I'm happy to help you source some.

I did this a few days ago and have heard nothing. Not so much as an email!

I'm doing my mums shopping as she is vulnerable and in for 12 weeks, luckily I booked one a week till mid April before Boris locked us down. It's coming but it's half empty so I have to go to the shops for top ups.

So today I have bulk ordered Crisps for the DC (20 small bags) and DH's favourite Granola (6 packets) direct from the manufacturer.

Also ordered 3L olive oil from another food manufacturer.

Some of them have free delivery.

So that's another option to consider, for products with a good shelf life.
