Online food shopping delivery slots

Been trying for a week now to do an online food shop at Morrison's and Tescos but there are never any delivery slots.

Does anyone know if you have a better chance of success at this if you try and shop online at specific days and times?

I have seen people on here say they had more success by trying at 2.30am, 6am etc.

I could manage to book a slot last week easily around this time. But I hardly get any this week. It’s going to be tough.

Just got a Morrison slot. Benefit of having a baby who wakes in the night.

I don’t know, but I got an Asda slot for 1st April today after trying everywhere. Apparently they’ve changed the way they release slots and added more deliveries per slot. Not sure quite how that works and not sure if it’s even nationally.

I've been trying everyday multiple times a day for all major supermarkets and can't get a thing 😔

Also check your local Facebook groups to find local shops and restaurants etc that are delivering locally.

A hotel local to me sent us a delivery yesterday of several staple foods and 12 rolls of bog roll! So excited to see bog roll haha. (We ran out yesterday! And can't get to shops as self isolating).

Also I've seen a couple of farm shops near us that are delivering. Some deliver to cities, you don't need to be in the countryside. Just depends on what's in your area.

There are 270,810 people ahead of me in the Ocado virtual queue. Fun.

I think the key to getting through this will be to change how we shop - find other suppliers for things. I've found lots of smaller suppliers near me I didn't even know existed a week ago.

Also I'm not using Amazon anymore. The were charging astronomical prices for food e.g. £17 for a bag of crisps the other day. And the way they are treating their staff in this crisis is monstrous.

Also, given Coronavirus spreads on surfaces, if Amazon creates an environment where loads of its staff are infected then it could be becoming a delivery mechanism for the virus.

‘Petrified’ Amazon workers left in ‘300 Strong Crowds’
24 Mar 2020

Amazon workers are ‘petrified’ of being infected by COVID-19 after being left to work in packed warehouses, without hand sanitiser or personal protection equipment.

People at fulfilment centres across the UK report being left in crowds of 200-300 people and having to reuse equipment multiple times with no hand sanitiser available.

Workers say water dispensers are used over and over again without being disinfected, dirty canteen tables with used tissues on them, team leaders giving feedback without staying two metres away and no sanitiser or alcohol wipes to clean equipment.

Mick Rix, GMB National Officer, said:

“We are so angry about this - these workers are petrified of catching and spreading COVID-19 and rightly so.

“Amazon is blatantly disregarding the two metre social distancing rules, there are no masks, no sanitiser and with the vast amount of people working there there’s no way of keeping them from getting ill.

“It’s impossible for Amazon workers to keep a safe distance from each other and hit their productivity targets.

“Amazon has a duty of care - not just to its own workers but to the whole of the British public."

I'm waiting for Boots (while searching for alternatives online)

Currently 165004 in the queue, been waiting about an hour already.

BoringUserName00 · 27/03/2020 13:34

Thanks everyone. I'll have a go at getting up during the night and see if I can get a delivery slot then

Have just noticed that Waitrose have changed their delivery so it's only available to the elderly and vulnerable. Just like Sainsburys. So that's now two suppliers that the majority of people will not be able to use 😕
