I'm not sure people understand virus transmission

I went to Tesco today. They had a 'trolley cleaning station'. Anti bacterial disinfection spray and blue paper towel to wipe your trolley handle bar with.

It sounds good, until you think about the fact that every person who uses the spray handles the bottle. So you haven't just come in to contact with one person's germs, but every person's germs. Confused

Which is why you wear gloves.

Igotthemheavyboobs · 26/03/2020 21:43

Why wouldn't you use the blue paper on the spray bottle to use it? That's what I would have done.

Lougle · 26/03/2020 21:44

No gloves. I'm not saying those things can't be done, but I suspect most people were just picking up the bottle.

Maybe they should use some of the blue towel to handle the spray bottle?

Tootletum · 26/03/2020 21:46

Interesting. I just ignored the bottle altogether.

Bagelsandbrie · 26/03/2020 21:47

I think all this sort of stuff is absolutely pointless. Everything in the stores has probably been touched by loads of people, no point in worrying about the trolley as well. I just wash my hands a billion times when I get in and wipe everything with hot soapy water and then rinse.

Anti bacterial spray is useless against viruses - hopefully it was an alcohol based cleaner instead

RestingbitchMcface · 26/03/2020 21:48

It was squirted on the blue towel for me by the assistant then I was passed the towel

LittleLittleLittle · 26/03/2020 21:50

@RestingbitchMcface Hmm

definitelygc · 26/03/2020 21:50

I think we need a public education effort to explain the difference between a virus and bacteria

Lougle · 26/03/2020 21:57

I don't think some people will ever understand that, @definitelygc How many campaigns have there been about requesting antibiotics for viruses? Yet still people think they're being short-changed or fobbed off.
