Has everyone in a vulnerable group had a text yet?

DH should be, due to immunosuppressant medication, but we haven’t heard anything. He isn’t taking it for one of the more commonly prescribed reasons and I’m not sure if this is why we haven’t heard. Has anyone else not been contacted that was expecting to be?

My DH is same, on methotrexate and humira, heard nothing. I checked online and it said 'moderate' so maybe not on it, not sure.

Howmanysleepsnow · 26/03/2020 21:18

That sounds very familiar. Does he have psoriasis?

My dad hasn’t yet - he 72 with severe copd and on a cpap machine at night, so I expected him to get a letter.

NewCatMummy · 26/03/2020 21:33

Nope. Mycophenolate and prednisolone so in the shielding group apparently.

Orangesox · 26/03/2020 21:49

There are multiple different ways to be identified though, that’s why they’ve quoted a 2 week period to expect to get the letters. Some drugs will automatically flag that you need to be shielded and you’ll get a batch printed letter, for others it goes on other clinical indicators that requires a clinician to physically identify that you need to be shielded. Hence the advice that if you’ve not been contacted in the two week window, to then speak with your hospital specialist or GP.

There’s some really good screening tools out in the public domain that are to be used to determine shielding criteria which can be helpful too.

DH has COPD and hasn't heard anything yet. He's using up the last of his annual leave this week and I've said he isn't going back to work until he's checked with his GP.

icedancerlenny · 26/03/2020 21:55

I had a text today.

LittleLittleLittle · 26/03/2020 21:57

Had text on Monday afternoon. Letter on Tuesday.

Howmanysleepsnow · 26/03/2020 21:59

Ok, so they’re still coming. I’d read everyone would be notified by Monday 23rd

OP posts:
Wingedharpy · 26/03/2020 23:18

Not 23rd @Howmanysleepsnow.
Guidance says if you haven't been contacted by the 29th, and think you belong in the extremely vulnerable group, contact your GP.

Madhairday · 26/03/2020 23:24

Had my text on Monday, letter today (lung disease).

DD hasn't had either, she's on Humira for psoriasis so think that was on the borderline, some biologics seemed to be higher risk?

WinstonWolf · 26/03/2020 23:28

Not yet for dd (severe asthma).

GP couldn't confirm why this was when we had a telephone appt, but is hopefully chasing up.

EsteeLouder · 26/03/2020 23:32

What text is this please?

StinkyWizzleteets · 26/03/2020 23:34

My GP didn’t even know I was on immunosuppressants so I doubt I’ll be getting a letter 😂

TooMuchBloodyChoice · 26/03/2020 23:42

We’ve got two in the high risk group. We had our multiple texts last week and two letters today.

They’ve appeared to narrow the high risk shielded group quite a bit since their original announcement but if you think you should be eligible for shielding then please do it.

My DH can’t get his meds ordered despite being registered as vulnerable and calling repeatedly. So I’m not sure what the bloody point is to be honest

TooMuchBloodyChoice · 26/03/2020 23:44

Just realised I’ve lost track of days. We had our first two texts on Monday (followed by a lot of other advice texts) and two formal letters today.

We’ve also registered the two shielded members with gov.uk but so far have heard nothing from it regarding meds or supportive shopping etc

Orangeblossom78 · 27/03/2020 07:25

You can register yourself online.www.gov.uk/coronavirus-extremely-vulnerable

Orangeblossom78 · 27/03/2020 07:26

Too much you could register with the GP for online access, we do this already it goes straight to pharmacy for collection

Amboseli · 27/03/2020 07:30

We haven't had anything. DH is on prednisolone and mycophenolate.

He was seeing a private consultant although GP was kept informed throughout and he has an appointment with the consultant through the NHS in a couple of months.

I've been treating him as high risk regardless but if it means we can get an online delivery slot so I don't have to go to the supermarket I would like to have the letter.

Oblomov20 · 27/03/2020 07:37

That is the vulnerable list? I'm not. I think my diabetes make me high risk. But not vulnerable. That is right, isn't it?

Orangeblossom78 · 27/03/2020 09:15

You can tick the online part which says you are on the list e.g. on immunosuppresants, maybe that will help with deliveries etc

You just need details like your NHS number (on letters and online GP access site) and date of birth...
