Redundancies - I'm a wreck!

The crisis has hit home. I'm going to have to make 20 of my people redundant tomorrow. I'm a wreck! I'd rather take redundancy myself than let a single one of them go (not an option, yes, I did ask ... my boss says to grow the fuck up and not be a martyr). I've until 8am tomorrow to decide which ones.

Some are really good. Some are rather mediocre. I've parents, people who send remittances to their country of origin, those born into privilege but who work their bums off ...

Someone please say something uplifting! I'm in tears (and I'm not even the one out on the street come tomorrow!)

I feel for you OP. DH has been making those calls this morning. He looks like a total wreck - he feels so responsible. As it is, he is middle management so has not had much input into the decisions but he is having to deliver the news.

I will be getting the gin out for when he finishes...

@Crackerofdoom, give your DH warmest regards and best wishes from a random stranger on the internet.

Also, I'm sorry he's had to do this without even getting to have much of a say. This must be utterly shit! Flowers

Your post brought unmumsnetty tears to my eyes.

What an inspiring and aspiring leader you are.
