When did the cough finally stop.

I suspected I came down with it on Friday 13th and been ill ever since.

Now most of the symptoms have gone and all I have left is a cough that I just can’t seem to shift.

It’s not too bad when I wake up but as the day progresses, it gets worse.

I’m supposed to return to work on Tuesday, which I can’t do if I’m still coughing.

I’ve been in self isolation for 2 weeks now!!

So how long does your cough last?

Hi

I have started with a cough this evening and I'm just wondering if it could be the start of CV? I have no other symptoms though so can't be sure.

Bookworm83 · 27/03/2020 05:45

I think I've had it but my only symptom was fever that lasted 9-10 days. It just started getting better yesterday.

InfiniteSheldon · 27/03/2020 06:01

I think I had it in Feb, we live near the first family who went down with it. I had a horrendous flu cold type thing started with sore nose and headaches it was like walking through treacle I was exhausted and breathing was tiring I have had asthma in the past and just assumed the weird cold had triggered that again. It lasted nearly 4 weeks and I really only realised how rough I'd felt when I felt better. I've had flu and that was worse but didn't last anything like as long.

kirinm · 27/03/2020 06:03

I don't think I've had it but my son who moved back in with us last week started to feel unwell a day or two ago and had a fever of 39.4 yesterday. I'm hoping it is just a cold.

Think I had it the first week in Feb.

*Spent a few days feeling dizzy, then completely exhausted having naps in the afternoon. Thought I was developing some kind of energy sapping illness.
*Had terrible headache over 2 days and remember thinking it was my first ever migraine and have more empathy for suffers in future.

  • Came crashing down on the Wed afternoon and had to go home early from work. *Felt bad for a few days then Friday and Sat night following above I had temperature of 39.8 over 2 nights. Nearly called ambulance as was so scared and ill and was alone with DC. Paracetamol brought it down and I slept as much as I could.
  • Then had hacking dry cough for a week to 10 days. I remember being confused as to why no mucus at all. I had massive coughing fits and ended up changing trousers and underwear at least 3 times a day. I had to wear a sanitary pad due to the coughing and lack of kegal exercises post birth! TMI.
  • Felt weak for at least 2 weeks after this and then I decided to go to the doctor. This was end of Feb by then. I told doctor I was worried I had pneumonia and was walking about with it, just getting on with life and I could see myself dropping in a heap and being taken to hospital and it was too late. She tested my oxygen levels and said I didn't have pneumonia, I had had a bronchial infection and it would take up to 6 weeks to get over it.

At no time was CV ever mentioned or talked about being tested or anything.

Seriously, that sounds like CV looking back. My 2 DC had it mildly over 1 weekend too.

If you have had symptoms fitting the criteria you quarentine for 7 days
You can then go back to work.
The cough can last quite a bit longer
Like any viral cough.. It may last weeks.
The cough alone is not a reason to stay quarentine. The quarentine period is while you are at highest point of being infectious.

yearinyearout · 27/03/2020 06:32

@kirinm a cold doesn't give you a temperature that high!

damnitnotlistening · 27/03/2020 06:57

I’m on my fifth week of coughing. I was really ill for three weeks. I’ve just had three weeks working from home following illness. Going back to work next week. I’m still coughing. I’m a nurse. My patients will probably be terrified of me.

kirinm · 27/03/2020 08:35

@year back in October I had a temp of 41 degrees for several days. I felt hideous but I was better after 3 days. No idea what it was. He sadly has a banging headache this morning so we will have to see how things go. We are expecting to all get it if it is covid due to us being in a small 2 bed flat. I'm asthmatic - although not one of the super vulnerable but feeling very anxious now.

Runkle · 27/03/2020 13:10

Has anyone had theirs start with awful ear pain? I'm getting sharp shooting pains every 60 secs. I've tried pain relief but nothing is touching it and the pain is literally stopping me in my tracks. Temp. Is normal, feel okish otherwise just tired but that's due to poor sleep I think.
