Hi,
We were due to travel to India this Saturday with Qatar, and booked flights through a regularly-used travel agent instead of directly booking with Qatar Airways (wish I’d booked directly now.)
Obviously India has banned entry and I’m shocked (to say the least!) that Qatar airways are only offering alternative flight dates within the next 12 months and no refund option.
Who knows where the world stands in 12 months?? And quite frankly, I have no desire to travel anywhere - especially since the travelling party also includes my elderly parents over 70yo and both with underlying conditions.
From what I have read, I think we are entitled to a refund as FCO has advised against all non-essential travel to India.
But our travel agents are standing strong saying this is the only instructions received from the airline.
I’m fuming. In the middle of this global crisis, I am appalled that they are doing this to people.
Does anyone know who and where I can reach out for advice please?
What’s more, the booking is even coming up as invalid on their website as if non-existent, despite us previously confirming our seat selection and meal preferences. So I don’t know if the flight is even still operating.
Tried contacting Qatar and have been told (after a very long wait) to contact the travel agent since not booked directly with them.
Can anyone help please?
I can try and claim on my travel insurance but travel disruption is not covered under my parents policy!
Thank you all, stay safe x
