Anyone else that’s been furloughed - how do you feel?

I was furloughed at the beginning of this week. My company is still running as about two thirds are WFH and the remaining third have been furloughed.

I am part time so just received an email from HR on my day off to inform me.

I get on well with my boss but have not heard anything from her (she is still working) ie a text or anything. I had access to my work emails on my mobile but they have since blocked this and changed my password, so now I feel completely out of the loop with company news etc. Almost makes me feel like I have done something wrong!

I am feeling quite down about it because I feel like they have furloughed the workers that they see as less important / more dispensable, in which case if things don’t improve in a few months then I think it’s likely the furloughed staff are the ones that would then be made redundant.

Just wondering how other furloughed workers feel when it’s not the whole company and just some workers that have been furloughed?

I know I am probably taking it too personally but just feeling very disheartened about it all.

Furloughed in 23 March.

Had my letter this week via email stating what my 80% salary amount will be and states I am not to work for the company at all however I volunteered to bank the takings from the week we had to close and to do a security check on the premises as the two bosses live nowhere near and I'm not far at all.

I'm happy to do that. It's a small business that needs physical workers to bring money in so being shut down means no income whatsoever Confused

I'm not sure how long the business will be able to sustain that and we turn over a very good amount for a small independent year on year but nothing coming in and lots going out does not make for a stable situation in months to come.

I am worried Confused

@marblesgoing so many small businesses are going to struggle. It's heartbreaking really, so many years of blood, sweat and tears to be just wiped out. I'm staying positive that things will recover slowly and we will all get back to where we were.

@marblesgoing that’s exactly the kind of thing that will help your bosses and will want them to get you back working when this is all over.

Three of our staff couldn’t be out of the office quick enough but the one we have kept on (paid) is absolutely going over and above her job role to keep our business going, taking on the work of the other three. She’s getting a bonus if we manage to keep going whereas the other ones who haven’t even called to ask have shown how much company loyalty they have!
