that is surely classed as essential travel? mine came home last week but if she hadn't I would certainly be driving to get her.

They're young adults, they haven't 'left home' completely and it's a very unsettling time for them - the first year students weren't planning on coming home now and finishing this early, it's a shit end to their first year. The 3rd years, well how stressful re: exams etc.

CallmeAngelina · 26/03/2020 13:00

Well, both of mine are fortunately home safe (21 and 23) but too damn right I'd have driven the length of the country and back to get them if they hadn't been.
You don't stop caring and worrying about them just because they've passed a certain age.
And if the country expects me to put myself at risk caring for other people's children in school, then I'm sure as hell going to take a much lesser risk to care for my own flesh and blood.

diddl · 26/03/2020 13:02

I'm guessing there's a reason her mum couldn't collect her?

hardboiledeggs · 26/03/2020 13:27

I see why he wants to do it especially as she is house sharing. It is dangerous but as long as they isolate when she is home I don't see a problem.

GaraMedouar · 26/03/2020 13:32

My DS is still at univ. he has to clear out his room. His dad is driving down to get him in the next few days - across the country. Either that or he gets train /coach which would be more risky .

Omg he has came home with symptoms .

.... In which case, your mum and his daughter will both be worried about catching it from him

Hopefully it is just another bug, not COVID

LovingLola · 26/03/2020 19:57

He would have been contagious before he left the house this morning
Presumably they are isolating now?

playthestation · 26/03/2020 19:58

Omg he has came home with symptoms .

And there you were worried he was going to pick them up. He has only gone and taken the virus with him!

HoffiCoffi13 · 26/03/2020 19:58

Well how else would she get home?
If he has come home with symptoms then he contracted it well before going to fetch her, and he has put her at more risk than she has him.
