DS 10 started with a cough on Mon,had a temp of 37.8 at Mon bedtime, this came down with calpol. Tues morning he was a bit lethargic and felt a bit crappy (in his words),temp of about 37.1. Tues afternoon perked up,no coughing in sleep.
Weds- pretty much back to normal. Did Joe Wicks in the AM,no coughing. Seemed fine.
Weds eve- started coughing more. Is coughing a few times at night now but not waking him. Keeping me awake with worry though!

He's defo coughing more but I wouldn't say it's continuous, mostly in morning and evening. His temp is staying at a steady 37.1 unless I give him calpol and it comes down to 36.1.

My concern is he's now going to start getting worse. He has mild Asthma and his chest sounds tight when he cough. Inhaler isn't really relieving it although when it has,he has told me he's coughed up a small amount of phlegm.

I know I can't get him tested, just wanted reassurance from other parents who think their child had it about how their symptoms presented and how it progressed.

DS(14) has had a really nasty cough and sore throat since Saturday. He has asthma is usually needs a fairly high dose of steroid inhaler. However it’s not been any more than a cough. He said his chest feels a bit tight, and has been more lethargic but otherwise ok. Day 4 yesterday and he said his chest was beginning to feel better and sore throat easing. His cough also sounds less awful. If it is c-19 then generally young children are ok, even with health problems. Try not to panic and just manage his symptoms days by day. DS has to be prompted to use blue inhaler which helped him a bit, so I just checked on him regularly. He has been back doing school work since Tuesday! Hope your son feels better soon.

Sosososotired Thanks for replying. My son also has asthma. Quite mild and usually only triggered by cold, damp weather. His inhaler isn't massively relieving his chest but then he's not complaining either. His cough is more of a bark.
Is your son's inhaler helping at all?

Not me, but my friend's 3 boys all had it and two of them have asthma. Apparently they really got better very quickly although were quite poorly for a day or two. My friend and her husband were much worse with it!
