Will Ocado deliver past midnight?

First of all, I know how lucky we are to have been able to get on the website and book a delivery, so this is definitely not a complaint.

We had a delivery booked for 8-9pm tonight. The driver called to say that he was running two to three hours late, this was around teatime. We haven’t heard anything since, and there is no sign of the delivery. We’ve checked the doorstep in case the driver knocked really quietly so as not to wake the children (because their drivers are really considerate like that) ☺️

Should we wait up, or do drivers stop delivering after a certain time? I’ve tried customer services and online chat, but they are closed. I don’t want to head off to bed if the driver is still out. Has anyone else had this?

My DH works for ocado and the drivers try to deliver every order. If they cant they should call you to let you know

LiveatCityHall · 26/03/2020 00:14

I should add even more so at the moment.

If the driver called you, you can usually call or text back on the same number they called you from.

Thank you Live. Your husband is one of many wonderful drivers, I don’t know what we would do without them.

We’ll wait up a bit longer. We’ve left all the lights on, but we live down a dark drive along a dark road and I think he might find it hard to find us now that the other houses down the road have turned their outside lights off. DH is keeping an eye out, ready to sprint down the drive and wave from a safe distance!

I guess the driver has got to weigh up calling every customer, potentially getting a load of grief off each of them, against just cracking on and getting through the deliveries as fast as he can.

Thanks Viccat. The driver called DH. I just assumed the number was withheld. Asked DH and he’s calling now, it’s gone through to voicemail.

I got my delivery tonight about 9pm and he says he was going to work until 2am!
He was so lovely and positive as well. Star must be such a hard job right now.

Bless him. The driver called back and said he’s two stops away. DH said he’d put the kettle on and make him a cuppa to decant into the driver’s travel mug and I’ve made him a cheese sandwich and got some crisps and wrapped biscuits out. Not sure if he’ll be allowed to take it, but if he’s hungry, he might appreciate something to eat. I know they’re getting a lot of bad press at the moment but we’ve never had any issues with Ocado in the four or five years we’ve used them, and without exception, the drivers are ALWAYS polite, helpful and deliver our shopping with a smile. Like all the other front line workers, they really are heroes.

That’s lovely OP, but doubt he’ll be able to take the food as the new rules mean no contact at all. But it’s a nice thought

Freeekedout · 26/03/2020 01:09

He must have been starving.

So grateful to him. I feel like a kid at Christmas.... he’s been, he’s been!!!

A thread that gives you hope for humanity!

Ribrabrob · 26/03/2020 01:27

How lovely op. Just out of interest, did he accept your kind offer?

Freeekedout · 26/03/2020 11:59

He took the food and knicked my favourite (biggest!) travel mug. I’ll let him off. It’s not as though we’re doing any travelling for the foreseeable!
