When will the general public be able to get antibody tests?

I keep seeing bits and pieces about various tests including antibody testing for the general population but have seen lots of conflicting information. Has anyone seen if and when the government are saying antibody testing will be available?

They need to test the tests first then use them on frontline staff before the general public gets anything

I know. I saw something saying Boris was saying they were going to attempt to do 250,000 tests a day, then another saying the public wouldn't be tested. Not sure which is correct?
