...and it’s only day 3.

I just can’t do it. I can’t. I’ve only got 2 of them but they’re driving me FUCKING MAD.

It's just teething problems (probably!), they'll settle down once they get used to the new routine. I think it's like the school holidays, the first week is always a nightmare.

In the mean time...scream into a pillow?!

Jourdain11 · 25/03/2020 22:37

Sympathies! It's a big change. For my part, I don't know why I ever let recorders into the house....!

SweetMarmalade · 25/03/2020 22:38

Same!

AnneJeanne · 25/03/2020 22:39

Get rid.

bedroomcushions · 25/03/2020 22:39

Ages? We will give you ideas

ilovetomatoes · 25/03/2020 22:42

Same here. I’m off this week then working from home next week. It’s going to be hell.

Jourdain11 · 25/03/2020 22:44

My 7 year old has been playing I Like the Flowers and My Heart Will Go On non-stop!!!!

PrincessConsueIaBananaHammock · 25/03/2020 23:05

What's the actual problem? Some things are more easily solved than others. Some have various options you could try before rocking in a corner.

FuckOffCorona · 25/03/2020 23:05

Disney plus.

Merryoldgoat · 25/03/2020 23:37

Thank you for responding - I’ve calmed down a bit. They’re both boys, 7 and 2.

They both have SEN - 7yo has HFA and younger has speech delay (likely ASD too) so we have added stress.

It will be better tomorrow. It’s just the realisation of what this means hit home today.

I work in a school and after the endless contingency planning calls and desperate scrabbling it all just seems very real all of a sudden.

I’ll go to sleep now and hope I don’t wake up hungover as I’m now such a lightweight the 1 large glass of wine I had is enough to make me feel pissed.

If only it would occupy them long enough.

Isn't it weird how we're generally stressing out about our kids having too much screen time, and now they can have all the screen time they want and they basically aren't interested?!

Merryoldgoat · 26/03/2020 07:27

@Jourdain11

I’ve never actually had any screen time limits for my son. He loves his iPad. At first I was worried but as I observed him I saw how it was sparking other things.

He’d often watch a video, get an idea and then leave it whilst he went off to try something.

As he’s got older he’s less and less interested.

When I was younger I loved the TV but I also spent every day with reasonable weather outside on my bike/skates etc.

I largely think people worry too much about screen time.

Refreshing to hear and makes me feel a bit better about relying on the TV a lot over this period. Having to wfh with an 18mo is fucking hard. Thankfully my team don't mind the mumble of the cars films in the background of our video calls

Jourdain11 · 26/03/2020 07:51

I'm also glad that two older DDs love reading. I usually have to force DD2 to stop at some point and go outside, do something else, etc. Now she can read as much as she wants! Wink
