Can anyone help please? What do I do in this situation.

I have an abcess, I have had an emergency dental appointment with my private dentist this morning. Xrayed, told this is what I have and given amoxicillin 500mg x 3 a day for 5 days, plan was to have tooth removed Monday morning.

Just had a call half hour ago, my appointment Monday has been cancelled. New corona guidelines from today is no extractions / fillings or root canals. Antibiotics only.

The dental nurse who phoned said she was sorry but she had no idea when they could get me in for extraction could be weeks or even months.

What do I do if these antibiotics don't work? Will they even work?

god I hate teeth Sad

I hope you get sorted OP

Lots of people saying burst it and dentists wont do anything for a week until the the antibiotics work.

Thats simply not true Ive had 3 in my lifetime and all were drained at the start of treatment and then packed. Its simply not possible to burst some abscess they need drilling.

They'll have to sort something because as risky as Covid is people can die from an absess.

Amoxicillin didn’t work for me, the only relief I got was a week later when I ended up in the emergency hospital dentist. The dentist drained it. Also I bought mouth wash which helped. It was awful. So awful I felt like sawing my head off
