Would you cancel holiday for July?

Just that really.
Due to go away in July (10th) to Cornwall with Haven. Not sure what to do? Shall we cancel? Or do we wait?

Not yet, I'd wait a little longer...

PlanDeRaccordement · 25/03/2020 14:29

I’m waiting. Have holiday in Italy booked. Free cancellation up to 10 June. So I am going to wait and see.

ThumbWitchesAbroad · 25/03/2020 14:29

What are your chances of a refund/voucher if you cancel now?

I'd probably wait it out until things are more clear, in all honesty. I had to cancel my flights back to the UK a couple of weeks ago, but BA at the time were giving full cost vouchers, valid for a year, to anyone with flights booked up til end of May. I'm assuming that, as time goes on, they will extend this deadline.

Hopefully Haven will be doing something similar?

Ciwirocks · 25/03/2020 14:30

No, we have booked Devon for July and are just going to wait and see how things pan out

LadyJessica · 25/03/2020 14:37

What,s the cancellation policy, and if you have travel insurance and/or if housed a credit card, how would it cover potential cancellation by yourself or by the accommodation?

LadyJessica · 25/03/2020 14:37

*Or if you used a credit card...

Snowflakes1122 · 25/03/2020 14:38

Not yet-we have one booked for July and I am holding out to see how things pan out.

We will all definitely need a holiday once we get the chance! Wine

Palavah · 25/03/2020 14:39

I can't imagine you'll be going, I'm afraid

rosie1959 · 25/03/2020 14:39

Would wait and see what happens. You have much more rights to a refund of any deposit if they have to cancel

blubellsarebells · 25/03/2020 14:44

Ive cancelled mine.
Full refund for the accommodation. I need the money.
Flights ive left as they were cheap and just in case i can still go.
Im travelling alone and my mental health has really suffered the last couple of weeks and i just cant see myself being well enough, confident enough to go alone and enjoy it.

SimonJT · 25/03/2020 14:45

I haven’t cancelled mine, I’m going to wait for the airline/hotel to cancel.

NoMorePoliticsPlease · 25/03/2020 14:47

You wont be able to go but dont cancel or you may lose your money. Wait for them to cancel

Woman31 · 25/03/2020 14:51

How do you know we won’t be able to go? Look at the difference in China already, 4 months is a long time away.

I have UK based hol booked for August. Holding my nerve for the moment... If I'd booked a flight I'd expect it to be cancelled.

FelineUK · 25/03/2020 14:53

I've got various hotels booked through Booking.com for Turkey end September.. haven't booked flights yet though. Have until beginning of September to cancel so waiting.. cancelled all other trips prior to September.

Seventyone72seventy3 · 25/03/2020 14:54

I have a holiday booked in July and I'm still hopeful.

CaptainBrickbeard · 25/03/2020 15:00

We have an all-inclusive Greek island holiday booked at the end of July and the travel company are saying nothing at the moment. I can’t imagine it being safe to go ahead but I am waiting to see if it gets cancelled and don’t expect to hear anything until much nearer the time. I guess airlines and hotels will be desperate to have things running and lockdowns will be lifted even if only temporarily, but I’m not sure a holiday with a buffet restaurant will be so appealing even if it still runs...

However, if the antidote tests are rolled out and people test positive for having had the virus and there is enough evidence to say that will make people immune and not able to transmit - which is a LOT of ifs - then life could go back to something more normal for a lot of people. That seems like the best hope.

DontGoIntoTheLongGrass · 25/03/2020 15:03

Got July holiday booked to Turkey. We're waiting also.

crispysausagerolls · 25/03/2020 15:04

I would not cancel, especially as it’s within the UK. Really might be ok. Bit more iffy is the idea of flying

Caramel78 · 25/03/2020 15:05

I’ve cancelled mine

Ylvamoon · 25/03/2020 15:06

I've cancelled my July holiday to Europe. Even IF things are better, I feel that international travel will still be classed as high risk. Covid - 19 May be under control by then, but far from over!
Think about it, it's travelling & trade that contributed to the current situation.

Seventyone72seventy3 · 25/03/2020 15:07

I think either it won't be ok by July and the holiday company will have to refund OR it will be alright and people will rush to book holidays. So you're better off doing nothing!

Bluntness100 · 25/03/2020 15:08

I think you’ve a good chance of being able to go, I’d not cancel at this stage and wait to see how it plays out over the next few weeks.

Roselilly36 · 25/03/2020 15:09

Personally, I would cancel.

Floralnomad · 25/03/2020 15:10

Definitely wait and see , we’ve got DLP booked for mid June and I’m not making any decisions until the end of May at the earliest .
