Anyone else having to WFH but has very little to actually do?

My tasks were drying up anyways due to other companies doing less. Plus I often undertake ad hoc duties when asked.

I'm logged in, I'm doing may e 3-4 hours of actual work over the course of a day.

I'm asking if anyone needs additional support to just send it my way. I've had very little.

I just sort of keep gazing at the computer and refreshing the screen.

Then you're already doing better than the average office-based worker Grin...

All my work was done by 11am today.

I am online only because the owner of the company, is the type to monitor us.

I have mainly called people and made sure my team are online. They are great, but again, wouldn't be surprised if they are being monitored.

We have a group chat on Microsoft teams and actually having a good laugh on there.

But most of my day isnt doing work anymore. The lack of distractions mean things are getting done faster.

Do you have any one line courses or training you can access via work? I'm ploughing through those. All the stuff I meant to do over the last few years but didn't. Tidied up my computer, deleted the contacts in my phone of people who left many years ago.
I wrote a business case for spending some of my time doing a course I haven't had time to do but have been longing to undertake. Amazingly they said I could and offered to pay for it too! If you don't ask, you don't get!

MrsJoshNavidi · 25/03/2020 14:23

Yes, work is drying up here too.
I spent most of yesterday writing up my end of year performance review.
I'm on a day of today, so hoping that my emails build up to a tidy number to keep me busy tomorrow.

"Tidy" = Welsh for "just the right amount"

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 25/03/2020 14:24

I am 85% of the way through the course with just two exams left so I have revision to do when the dc aren't around. However all the exams have now been cancelled. I will get some revision in at some point.

My teaching day of 40 mins prep, 4.5 hours of actual teaching and an hour of marking/feedback/planning has currently been able to be compressed into approx an hour. And maybe another hour doing additional jobs that it's a bit of a luxury to get the time to do.

But it's not going to be filling the day! (HT wanted us all in cleaning and tidying and doing displays etc but that was scuppered when the 'lockdown' was introduced).

TheGreatWave · 25/03/2020 14:34

My job involves people so is quite difficult at present, I have enough to do for now, looking at some policies and procedures for example that have always just been put on the back burner. Finding things for CPD.

Also likely to be being heavily monitored.

I am in the same boat , I send a lot of time talking to clients and my staff , this normal involves a lot of travelling on public transport so I am not doing that now , I am doing via email and phone , I was finished at about 12 , so I asked if anyone needs any help , I have been asked to see if i can source 40 x 500ml bottles of hand sanitiser ! ummmm ok Confused

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 25/03/2020 14:47

I'm trying to enjoy it but don't feel I can stray too far from the screen. Hopefully I will acclimatise soon.

I wish, I’m run ragged.

DonnaDarko · 25/03/2020 14:51

We have seen our work decline rapidly over the last week or so.

Our phone lines are still open, so although we have had only 5 calls a day, I need to be available on the phone.

It's very annoying cos I'm also looking after DS and he wants me to play with him, but i'm stuck at my desk even though I have hardly any work.

I'm looking for a wireless headset so I don't need to be chained to my desk!

This is genius! They know you won't be able to, but if anyone asks if there's enough work etc 'yes alcalavicii is on an important task'. Kind of like when you start a new job and they ask you to try and find a long weight/wait.

Cantdecidewhich · 25/03/2020 14:57

I always wfh but got put on furlow at lunchtime as it is so quiet at the moment. I was so happy as I have been bored stiff all week just trying to keep busy as I am monitored too.

AlCalavicci · 25/03/2020 15:24

@Marieo
Grin I had not thought of it that way , wow I am on a very important task , , , , , goes off on another search . . . . .
