Coughed over by cashier

Have just returned from a shop where I needed to get calpol for little one who has started teething.
Whilst bagging up my goods the cashier, who was approx a meter from me, suddenly coughed over me without covering his mouth. He had gloves on . He did not cover his mouth and just looked at me without saying anything except'here's your receipt' and put it on counter.
I was shocked and left the store without saying anything.
Have googled the store and the telephone number is out of use.
I would like to inform the store manager of what has happened so they can take a view on whether the chap should continue to serve customers.
I'm so upset, I've been staying in for last week and only ventured out today in desperation and thought with practicing caution I would be okay.
I feel so worried now, I washed myself and my shopping as soon as I got in and put clothes in washing machine.
Just so upset by this and that I could be infected.
Don't know why I'm posting just needed to vent I suppose. I guess if the cashier has CV there's no way I could avoid contracting it?

Obviously it is very poor practice, but try not to panic as a cough is supposed to be new and continuous before it is considered a symptom. He might have a chronic, smoker's cough or it could have been a complete one-off dry throat moment. I would imagine if he was coughing continuously his colleagues would have been quick to point it out and get him sent home, as they won't be wanting to work with someone possibly infected.

That is horrible, yesterday in my supermarket the cashiers were doubled up chatting away and laughing, no distancing at all. I would email the head office if you can, the manager and staff need to be aware of infection control and hygiene practice even when there is no covid about.

@TheMemoryLingers thank you for giving me some perspective on this. You are correct in this, could be one of those things.
I am still going to contact the store so they can speak to the cashier to make sure they are aware of what's happened so they can make a decision from there. Wouldn't want it to happen to another customer. Have found contact us form online to use to let them know.

Managed to get through on telephone to head office. They are going to contact the manager at my local store immediately.

That's good, hopefully they will be able to ensure he is safe to work and remind him of guidance to cough into a tissue or sleeve if needed. Hoping everything is fine for you, OP.
