Halls of residence - any refunds?

I doubt it, as with dd's she had to sign up for a year and pay in advance. I've looked at the tenancy agreement for details of ending the tenancy early, and it just says 'only if you arrange for another student to take over the remainder of the year'.

Obviously there's no clause about pandemics! However, if all the students have left because uni's closed, and they don't go back again this academic year, does anyone know if there's a chance of a refund?

I'm in the same position with my ds. There's a petition going round about it

Newcastle uni have cancelled rent for the summer term for students in university halls.

Dd's is run by a private company, not the uni and I think it's going to be a struggle to say the least.

My university is allowing students to end their tenancy early.

Ds is at Lancaster and we've heard nothing

DD's privately run halls in Manchester told them if they hand back keys by 31/3 they will waive the rest of the contract.

That's encouraging Bertha. Did the company take the initiative on this or did your DC have to prompt it?
