I went to a supermarket for the first time in two weeks

I have been social distancing and today was my first time going to a supermarket.

It was quiet - shelves and aisles - and a wee bit eerie, with a near deserted car park and quite streets.

I’ve got daily robust mental health, but I felt very aware and even a bit vulnerable and couldn’t wait to get home again.

Who knows how I will feel after months of this.

We need some essentials tomorrow - milk and bread - and DH and I are going to walk up to our village shops. We haven't been out since Saturday so we're using this as our exercise as well. I feel really nervous about going out. I've said he can pop to one shop and I'll go to the other. God knows how I'll be if we've got to go to the supermarket because we'll have to drive.

I’ve been self isolating for 8 days as DS was symptomatic. Still 6 days to go and I don’t have any idea what to expect.

It was just fun a feeling of being exposed - never before have I felt that my home is my safe space.

Is it still chaos in supermarkets though? I'm debating going to a big Morrisons on Friday morning to get a few bits but a) is everyone still being an arsehole and b) is there anything on the shelves anyway?!

It was very very quiet in the supermarket which’s as a place, negative is there’s not much food!

OP same.
I went alone to our local small co-op, everyone distancing, almost nobody there, I felt really anxious and unnerved even though it was a gorgeous sunny day. Couldn't wait to get home.

I've only been doing exercise walks with DH for the last couple of weeks and had everything delivered so this was my first time in a shop.

Am also really regretting ever having watched the Walking Dead and similar on TV.

I think there may be a rise in people with agoraphobia and social anxiety after this. It's so sad. I was practically self isolating before any of this kicked off following a hospital stay. Technically I haven't seen the light of day since December ( I only went out for medical appointments). I can't get a slot with any supermarket, can't even identify myself as a vulnerable customer due to my health problems as Sainsburys are too busy to take the call. Terrified of having to go out soon to get supplies.
