We have no yoghurts/snacks/ fruit left and I want to try the shop (3 mins away and would be my daily allotted 'exercise') but h is saying it's against the law because it's not essential?

I would say that’s fine actually - although do check the opening times, a lot of shops by us have reduced their opening hours.

Oh for heavens sakes of course you can go to the shop. Its open.

Go straight to the shop, on your own, get what you need and go straight home.

One of you goes, observing social distancing , surely? You aren't isolating due to sickness right? If not then going down the road for food is fine and not at all against the law.

Not isolating due to sickness or symptoms, just trying to be mindful of everyone else and limit risk.
