Are children's A&E's/wards crazy at the moment?

Given that most children are asymptomatic or mild, I just wondered if anyone had any insight into what it's like at the moment?

My sons is showing some of his asthma attack warning signs, and he's always needed to go into hospital with previous attacks. So I'm just wondering...

Also, what would happen if we were in self isolation and he needed to be seen in hospital? We wouldn't be able to rock up at A&E?

You need to call 111 and ask for advice if you are in self isolation. They may send someone to the house with a nebuliser so you can avoid A and E.

As above poster said, I’ve had a first responder out a few times for my son, he’s goes on the neb, always had a follow up appointment within 24 hours at either the gp’s or out of hours for steroids. Some surgery’s rent out nebs, it might be worth ringing your gp surgery to see if they provide the service.

Not according to my friend but we don't have many confirmed cases here and no children have been confirmed.

I'd definitely call your GP or 111 first

I saw something from a nurse in a tees hospital saying they were extremely busy with CV patients, including children, needing treatment. I'd assume CV cases are kept away from everyone else, and that this will vary depending where you are (for now at least) but I would call 111 sooner rather than later.

Thanks, will do. We do have a hospital from home care service we are usually discharged to, so I was thinking maybe they'd send one of those round before instead of after. Fingers crossed this doesn't escalate.
