I have hardly any food in and need essentials, bread, milk. I am really worried about going out. Have been isolating since Wednesday, not because of symptoms or vulnerable just because I can wfh.

What are the supermarkets like? I'm really worried they are going to be busy

there is another thread that is currently active by someone who went to aldi today, and said that because they are limiting the number of people who can go in the shop at once, it was fine. just make sure to thoroughly wash your hands afterwards and keep your distance from others.

Try a garage forecourt late at night. Less likely to be busy and they usually have essentials like milk and bread.

Morrisons seem to be managing numbers too.

I've avoided the big supermarkets and just been going to the corner shop. Today was the first time since Saturday. Just got essentials. They even had loo roll. Only a couple of other customers and everyone stayed well away from each other.

@Petiolaris has a good idea, and then you can order things like meat and veggies from here

www.morrisons.com/food-boxes/how-it-works

Morrison are sending out £35 food/household goods boxes with essentials to last you a week

You must log on early though to get a slot

I went to a big Sainsbury's today to pick up a prescription.

It was empty- about 6 checkouts open and no queues. It was about 1pm. There was no control to go in. People had small trollies. They said its a limited to 3 of any item and kept announcing that loo roll, long life milk and something else that I cant recall was limited to 1 per shopper. Most people were alone.

It had lots of food- much more than last week. I didn't walk all round but there was lots of fruit and veg, pasta, rice, toilet roll.Coca Cola was back in stock- they didnt ahem any last week. Bleach, wipes, kitchen towel. Loads of fresh food and ready meals.

So the shelves were like an evening at the end of a busy day- empty but not bare but there was choice. They had big pallets out in front of the fresh counters with coke, crisps and stuff (didnt look in detail but they were whole pallets)

There was very little wine.
