Car MOT and garages etc

My car had its MOT at the weekend. Dropped off and picked up when done. Had a short conversation (from a safe distance) with MOT mechanic about any information re future of garages and MOTs. He had no idea.

Now here's the thing. I would have happily cancelled and kept car off road for a few months because I have supermarkets in walking distance etc.

But I'm a keyworker. I need my car. Without it I cannot get to work and we've been considered an essential service.

So does anyone know what the situation is from here on in? Any links to guidance or any suggestions or opinions on this?

Clearly I wasn't only one pondering this.

In case anyone reads.

Cars and light vehicles still need mot and garages are staying open.

Other vehicles have been suspended for 3 months.

I work in a garage that does MOTs etc. Still waiting to hear if we will be opening.

Halfords auto centres are closing.
My son works there.

We run a small garage, decided to close today. It's just not morally right to carry on. No matter how careful dh is he could easily be spreading it from one car to another.
He went in this morning very reluctantly, finished a couple of jobs and calling it a day. He's a sole trader we'll still have all the overheads etc but if we don't start isolating we'll never break the infection rates.
His industrial estate is as busy as any other normal day with companies insisting people still come in☹️
