Hi guys, looking for some help for my dad!
He’s a caretaker at a local primary school which was open key worker children BUT no one turned up today (6 yesterday) after the new lockdown measures, and all the teaching and admin staff have been sent home - the school is now considered closed. He’s been told to still go in by his supervisor to clean / do work around the school but surely this isn’t essential??

He and my family aren’t really sure if he should be going in or not under the new measures now it’s closed - can anyone shed some light? If you think he should go in can you explain why too please so we can if explain it to him Smile

All help is greatly appreciated!

I don't think he should be going in!
Maybe once a week at a push to make sure everything is okay, but I don't think that's necessary.

This work definitely isn't essential, if there are no kids in school then theres nothing to clean! Maybe go in for one final shift but definitely no more than that, if his supervisor says otherwise he should just refused, it's not worth the risk!

Hope all is well Flowers

No. He can tell them the PM says stay home.

Are the school expecting the potential that some children will be in the next day or day after that he would need to make the school ready for?

If not then most things can and should wait!

Him or Someone may need to go in to properly shut down the school for the long term. Shut down computers or other things properly, change the boiler settings as the building isn't being used. Check all windows and locks etc are in place. Put out the various bins for the final collection etc

But other than that if the school isn't being used then there isn't any need for anyone to be there.
