Cat has gone missing. Can I go and look for her?

My beautiful boy has completely vanished and I'm really starting to worry. I last saw him on Saturday night, and since neighbours have seen him on Sunday morning but he didn't come home last night. I'm a single parent to two kids that would have to come and look with me too.

DCat has a few times gone missing for a few days over the fields behind where I live, it always seems to take me going out there and calling him and after a while he comes running to me and this has always worked since the first time he wondered off. He has a tracker on his collar but I found his collar in my garden.

So, do you think I can head to the fields, kids in tow, to look for him? He hates most people so won't go up to strangers either.

Yes, go look for your cat.

Bluebellbike · 24/03/2020 07:55

It is your walking exercise for the day

LimpidPools · 24/03/2020 07:58

Yes, go and look. Especially if you're going into empty fields anyway.

FuckOffCorona · 24/03/2020 07:59

Yes, that will be fine - it can be your daily exercise.

I’m so sorry, it is such a worry when this happens. If you have a litter tray leave it outside for him so he can smell it. Or something else that smells of him, like his bed. Also leave out food for him.

If you have your neighbours’ numbers or a local Facebook group, ask everyone to look in their sheds and garages.

This is very typical of cats, and they almost always come home. Will be keeping my fingers crossed for you.

LittleMonstersMummy · 24/03/2020 09:51

Thank you everyone for replying! The fields are almost always empty when we go for walks there. I'm going to get the DC's wrapped up and go and look and give the neighbours a knock as we go past.

I've also put the litter tray in the garden and left some dreamies by the back door in hope. Unfortunately my two neighbours both have multiple cats so they may munch them but it's worth a try!

@FuckOffCorona DCat is so spoilt that he never sleeps in his own bed but is always asleep on mine. It felt weird going to bed on Saturday night without him there.

Just a quick update - Found him!! Had no luck yesterday despite trying for two hours to find him and came home feeling like that was it, he'd gone. Today I went out later (this afternoon) and after walking half hour calling he came running out from a ditch. He was filthy and meowed continuously on the way home but he's home!! He's less impressed now as he's been brushed, wiped down and fussed over but has also had a huge amount of dreamies. Thank you again Grin

Great!!

Is he under lockdown, now?

cushioncovers · 25/03/2020 19:19

Glad he's home.

MitziK · 25/03/2020 19:29

Picture or it didn't happen!

Let's see the latest inmate of Covid Cat Gaol-19!

LittleMonstersMummy · 26/03/2020 23:32

Not the best photo but it captures his sulking face!

I can confirm he's on lockdown and not happy about it. He's tried to escape twice today when I've been hanging washing out, the cheeky chap! His collar fastening is snapped so I need to get him a new one before he escapes. He's had a day of a lot of play and fuss and seems pretty happy, despite being shut inside! Thank you again everyone Grin

Such a beautiful sulking face so glad he is home and safe my cat is a house cat but is trying to escape daily

Catlover10 · 27/03/2020 09:04

Glad you found your cat Smile

Eireni · 27/03/2020 09:04

Good news he’s home that must have been so worrying! One of mine did a 48-hour bunk a few days ago and it was horrible. Of course then when he got round to coming home, he just wandered in non-chalantly and looked at me like his dinner was late.

SentimentalKiller · 27/03/2020 11:02

😸💞

LittleMonstersMummy · 27/03/2020 13:56

He practices his sulking face daily to maintain it, mostly when the DC's go up to him!

@moolady1977 If you have to stay inside, your cat can too, I hope you get lots of time to play with your cat!

@Eireni Clearly he knows who his human slave is! My boy didn't get treats until after a clean up and made sure I knew about it, meowing loudly the whole time Hmm I hope he stays home for you and doesn't worry you anymore!
