After Sanitizer, TP, water, etc: Next Phase buying? Hair clippers...

So if we're resigned to the fact that everyone's bought up all the supplies of hand sanitizer, loo roll, bottled water, pasta, paracetamol, thermometers etc.

What do people think it's important to buy next, for the long haul at home, to keep ticking over? Hair clippers?

cancel this thread before it generates the next panic buying pattern 🙄

LuxLFC · 23/03/2020 20:05

Hand cream if anyone has any sense with all this hand washing!

DramaAlpaca · 23/03/2020 20:07

DH is already regretting not going to the barber last week while he still could. He's not too keen on my suggestion that I cut his hair myself with the guidance of YouTube.

ItsJustTheOneSwanActually · 23/03/2020 20:09

All the baldy fellas who shave their heads at home already are feeling v v smug right now Grin

ItsJustTheOneSwanActually · 23/03/2020 20:09

(i did DH"s yesterday. No 1 on what's left of it)

FlaskMaster · 23/03/2020 20:09

Hair dye, a bidet obviously, a fan as it gets warmer maybe - although apparently it's turning cold again by the weekend. Knitting needles maybe.

WatchingFromTheWings · 23/03/2020 20:12

Gym equipment. I had a lot of the smaller stuff here anyway but I guessed in advance when the gyms would close. Ordered a treadmill, gyms closed 2 later.

Console games.

Lovelydovey · 23/03/2020 20:12

Things for bored kids to do. Books for me. Chocolate biscuits.

randomsabreuse · 23/03/2020 20:13

DH bought clippers last week and let me loose. Worse bit is nape of the neck which is now wonky... Collars and hats are a good thing!

cowfacemonkey · 23/03/2020 20:16

I'm looking at the kids hair wondering what they are going to look like when this ends. DS1 has given himself "tracks" both on his head and his eyebrows stating "not like I'm going out anywhere so no one will see it"

Maybe someone needs to pin the MN haircut tutorial to the top of style and beauty!

I'm not saying what second wave prep items I want in case I start a trend and they go the way of loo roll

ConstantlyCooking · 23/03/2020 20:23

Gym equipment already out of stock at Argos. Also I noticed yesterday that the wine section in Sainsbury's was looking sparse - I don't know if it was panic buying because pubs have shut or part of the strategy to free up shelf space for essentials.

randomsabreuse · 23/03/2020 20:23

I don't need to panic buy craft for me -my wool stash will last no worries. Also cross stitch stuff

Cuddling57 · 23/03/2020 20:24

I can't get got chocolate Shock.
Also think hair colour too!

FlaskMaster · 23/03/2020 20:31

Oh yes, all the wine, obviously.

agonyauntie2020 · 23/03/2020 20:33

It's a fine line isn't it? Two people have suggested this is the wrong sort of thread because it will spark panic buying, but I think (a) it's helpful to think about things like clippers for kids' hair, and (b) we have different hobbies and stuff don't we? I don't nit, gym equipment wouldn't be my thing, I don't drink, but that doesn't mean I wouldn't get some good ideas here, like a fan for when it gets warmer.

I think the person who said they don't want to put their ideas on here so others buy them is being a bit... well, mean. I suggested people buy a thermometer on one of the earlier threads about being prepared and I am glad I did. If you are the type to read these threads, you're the type to feel calmer if you're prepared.

But as I say, it's a fine line. I've bought some clippers, kids' books, and some plants (online nursery) because I like gardening. If all three go out of stock forever well...

*knit

or nit, actually (I liked the small blessings thread, fewer nits).

I'd be buy reusable San Pro if I didn't already use it and Terry towelling nappies if I had a baby, I'd much rather use the washing machine than go without.
