If closure of all non-essential shops is announced.

Due at 9am. I’ve paid upfront.

My DM had carpet fitters in today (much to my horror but on her head be it, as they say. I did tell her...)

Sigh......... is this an essential thing?

I hope they dont turn up for your sake and theirs.

People need to stop and self isolate and self distance!

Hmm, I wonder who can best answer, the internet or the carpet fitters themselves, do you genuinely expect anyone else to know?

Squashpocket · 23/03/2020 19:41

@Eeyoresstickhouse tbh if the op currently has no carpet and she's expected to stay in the house for the foreseeable future, I might consider that essential. Especially if, like we did the last time we had carpets done, she's got bare gripper rods sticking up and small children running around. How are you supposed to manage like that for what could be months? I'd take the risk myself.

Ours were due to come tomorrow and cancelled this afternoon. I posted on a local group asking if any carpet fitters were able to help and got shed loads of abuse....I might have made an error by asking but didn’t expect the abuse.

I was planning to keep the windows open in the two rooms, ask them to wash their hands, anti bac after they leave and not come into close contact with the fitter.....our house is literally a building site (we don’t have a working kitchen either) so it seemed essential.

My god. Should you not have called to rearrange this?
