London lockdown now, no travel, shops close, full lockdown Wednesday if people carry on ignoring advice.

Does anyone know what time he'll be speaking?

@Stupidanduseless in Germany family groups don't count in the 2 person rule so a family can make an essential journey as a unit I think?

Lockdown needs to happen. With all the idiots out this weekend just gone and with the nice weather coming this week more 'idiots' will be out and about. LOCK US DOWN!

Advance notice of a grounding of international and domestic passenger flights at the end of the week

He's had enough. It's a shit job and nobody's listening to him. So he's quitting with immediate effect and leaving Dominic Raab in charge as punishment.

I'd be surprised, and many quite annoyed, if it's just another dithering warning. We've had plenty of warnings - it's probably a lockdown.

A bit of bumbling with nothing overly clear and a threat of lockdown by the end of the week if we dont behave.

Personally I hope we get a soft lockdown. Only out alone (unless you have to bring children), only to the shop for food or doctors/pharmacy or to work IF you work in a particular profession or for solitary exercise (walking, cycling, running). Sat morning the last thing I wanted was a lockdown, now after the weekend where everybody discovered parks and fresh air were a thing I want it more than ever.

My husband had message to say all shops were closed, works for big London shopping centre, think Olympics, then had email retracted to say wait for Boris statement!! Think from that what you will!!

If it is lockdown, what does it mean with regard to car journeys? Will any be allowed?

To clarify, I mean if you had to pick to essential items (food, nappies for example).

I assume car journeys are allowed for essentials like going to work (if your workplace is still open) and grocery/pharmacy supplies.

Addressing the nation = statement with no/limited press - possibly no questions. I think this means enforced lockdown with consequences.

Press conference = others in room, press/other experts with questions
