I returned from Germany 9 days ago just as things started to become more serious in the UK currently self isolating. But every little symptom I’m convincing myself I have the virus. I am a fit 28 year old however I’m reading more and more stories of young and healthy people dying with no underlying health issues. I’ve had no temperature. I recently gave up smoking (2weeks ago) and switched fully to a vape last weekend I think this is giving me a slight sore throat (always just after I’ve vaped) I’ve also been getting heart palpitations and a feeling my chest is tight occasionally accompanied with some heartburn and a lot of trapped wind (like in between a burp and a hiccup type) I only cough slightly again if I’ve been vaping no more than 7-8 times a day. I’m really freaking out :( I haven’t left the house at all tomorrow will be 10 day in isolation would I have had some serious symptoms by now? Is my breathing/trapped wind/ heartburn more a sign of anxiety. I know I could be being ridiculous but please try and help me I’m looking for positives as I can only find negatives online :( I just wanna stay in the house now until this is over :(

Calm down my lovely. Everything you've described can be withdrawal symptoms because you've given up smoking. It can also be caused or worsened by anxiety. I think average time for symptoms to show is 5-10 days but it can be as long as 14. You're on the last leg now so try to relax. Download a meditation app and use it, focus on your breathing, and think of something you really want to treat yourself to when this is all over. The isolation and quitting smoking is giving you a bit of a rough ride but you can get through it. Send you virtual hugs Flowers

@bamboozledandbefuddled thank you so much for this! I really just needed some reassurance my partner is trying his best but doesn’t understand anxiety to be honest and just keeps telling me that he would also have symptoms so just calm down etc. But the more I try and do controlled breathing the more I panic and feel like I can’t breathe :( I sound and feel pathetic but I’m just so scared and over analysing everything. Thank you so much for your kind response you don’t know how much it means! I will feel so much better Saturday when I’ve been 14 days clear and not left the house. I’m trying to reassure my self as we only went out two evenings in Germany and used hand gel and washed our hands a lot and some social distancing measures had already been put in place so I’m hoping and praying 💖❤️💖 thanks again 💖❤️💖

You're very welcome Smile Your anxiety is probably making you control your breathing too much - your trying to 'get it right' and it's going wrong (if that makes sense). Just try to breathe and give it a gentle nudge in the right direction rather than giving it a shove. Depending what your weather's doing, try steadying your breathing with fresh air if you can - just standing at an open window will be fine.

You're not at all pathetic - this is hard for everyone and in many different ways. And the isolating is going to magnify everything. You'll get through it sweetheart ♥️
