Was planning on going tomorrow morning before DH goes to work so he can watch the children. After hearing on here we may go on lockdown tonight, do you think I should go this evening, although there probably won't be much in then. I need basics like bread, milk

if we go to lockdown you will still be able to go out for food i think

Oysterbabe · 23/03/2020 17:21

You can still buy food once we are locked down.

I think you can still go shopping if we go into lockdown, OP. From what I can see there are certain things you can still do within reason, such as food shopping.

There’s actually an AMA thread by someone in lockdown. Lots of helpful advice on there.

Why can’t your husband buy things in the way home from work?

adaline · 23/03/2020 17:22

You can still go to the shops even if we're on lockdown.

Submariner · 23/03/2020 17:22

Even in lockdown countries are allowing food shopping. If you are time limited tomorrow due to DH's work maybe go tonight?

T0tallyFuckedUpFamily · 23/03/2020 17:22

I hope this helps.

If there was a lockdown then I'd expect it to be similar to all the other European countries. So far we've not done anything unique, we've just copied other countries days/weeks later. So you should be allowed to go and buy food regardless of a lockdown.

However... if we did go into lockdown I think a number of people would panic again (even if they did have enough supplies in), so there could be a spike in the number of shoppers? Who knows. If I were you then I'd go tonight at a time where you expect the shops to be reasonably quiet.

Casino218 · 23/03/2020 17:23

We are all in isolation so I hope you can still get food!

Or try the Morrison’s boxes? In an emergency.

Thank you everyone. We do only need a few bits but are the bits that will probably be sold out. If Norris announces lockdown, does anyone know, will it be immediately? I actually thjnk the food situation will be better if lockdown is started

Those Morrison boxes look fab, I might give them a try.

Even in Italy, under lockdown the shelves are apparently full, and they can restrict the number of people in each shop as much as they like.

ShanghaiDiva · 23/03/2020 17:41

Lockdown restrictions may vary, but in all countries that have locked down supermarkets have been open, even in China.
