Working to ensure I can continue to pay tax which will pay the NHS nd fund nurses in their work sadly. Unless the state decides to pay me to do nothing I suppose. I won't hold my breath.

ParkheadParadise · 23/03/2020 12:38

Probably raiding the sweetie cupboard and not sharing it with dd🤣🤣.

SoleBizzz · 23/03/2020 12:39

"Xenia* You must get some time off. I do as a Carer 24/7 except 2 days a week on £9 a day. I save the Government £130,000 per year.

Both of us are working full time with a 5 year old at home. Most of my work can be done at anytime of the day where as DH needs to be available more during the day so I can see me having to do more in the evening.

Other than work and home school we'll be reading lots, playing board games and watching tv although i am trying to enforce some daily exercise.

WhiteChocTwix · 23/03/2020 12:47

I'm in the garden sorting the borders out and clearing up dead leaves from next doors oak tree! After that I have two bedrooms, an airing cupboard and a cloakroom to paint.

SoleBizzz · 23/03/2020 12:48

Sue must be red wally difficult. I do admire you and all who need to carry on a professional job whilst care for their child. This is a weird and difficult time for us all isn't it?

I have started pilates. I have steam cleaned almost everything save for the cats. I am practicing drawing. I am growing veggies in the garden. I have also just got Animal Crossing Grin

Lovemusic33 · 23/03/2020 12:54

Growing veg, tidying up the garden, painting a couple walls indoors, knitting, sewing and spending time with the kids. Today we are baking a cake and gardening (after school work).

Igotthemheavyboobs · 23/03/2020 12:55

Started the housework today, have written up a daily schedule whilst I am at home on mat leave waiting for the arrival.
Just cleaned the cupboards and rearranged the food / pans. Back now killing me but feels good to have done something productive today hahaha

WhiteChocTwix · 23/03/2020 13:03

@SoleBizzz absolutely! We moved house a couple of years ago and I ran out of steam with all the renovations a while back. Perfect time to crack on as I was temping so obviously that all stopped last week. DH very pleased to avoid painting as WFH!

CrunchyCarrot · 23/03/2020 13:06

Learning Welsh. Am decorating the house with my previously-bought tropical decorations - really cheers the place up to have giant palm trees and parrots, butterflies and flower garlands around the house! Reading post-apocalyptic fiction (has been my favourite genre for quite a while, long before this epidemic). Planning what veg I will grow this year and drawing up a timetable of planting. All my veg are container grown on the patio.

trilbydoll · 23/03/2020 13:06

We are alternating wfh and childcare. Kids are 6 and 4 so not doing proper schoolwork but we will make sure they don't forget how to read, write and count Grin

DrMadelineMaxwell · 23/03/2020 13:08

Doing my teacher work from home.
Being more up on the housework and delegating a job a day to the dds too...dd2 has just learnt how to use the washing machine today.
Painting all my ceilings and a few walls to get rid of surplus tins of paint.
Improving my piano playing.

Curiosity101 · 23/03/2020 13:11

I'm on mat leave so it won't be a huge difference for me but I'm doing the following:

  • Watching Netflix, Amazon Prime and (as of tomorrow) Disney +
  • Doing professional qualifications that will benefit me once I get back to work
  • Reading self-learning books (mostly people leadership, software design, and engineering project management but also some other soft skills)
  • Tidying, cleaning and sorting the house
  • Exercising (more home-based now of course)
  • Playing with my baby and taking a picture of him every day to share with family now we cant visit them
  • Lots of cooking from scratch
LargeGinOnTap · 23/03/2020 13:15

FourTeaFallOut · 23/03/2020 13:16

I have to perform the magic of teaching my children at home while maintaining three paces between them and being around them as little as possible - like enforced negligence. HmmConfused

Whattheduck · 23/03/2020 13:23

Jobs around the house I’ve cleared out half my kitchen cupboards this morning going to do the food cupboards tomorrow and rearrange them
Gardening
Family tree
Read
Word searches
Watch tv/films
Be on hand to help dd with her homework

ThisIsReallyShit · 23/03/2020 13:27

I was once in quarantine for two weeks a few years ago, I taught myself magic. I was really good! Then life went back to normal and I forgot all about it! 😂

I’ll probably just clean my house and watch tv. 😳

SueEllenMishke · 23/03/2020 13:37

It's very strange.I'm lucky that as a university academic i'm used to working from home and i'm left to manage my own time to some extent but I've had to spend a lot of time offering students a virtual handhold as they navigate this very difficult time. DH also works for a uni but in professional services so has to be available 9-5 where as it doesn't matter if i'm marking work at 9pm and not 9am.

CointreauVersial · 23/03/2020 13:41

I'd be doing my job, just in more cramped and noisier surroundings.

I'm still working from my office at the moment; long may it last; I'm hoping there's no lockdown!
