metallic taste in mouth, slight burning. Oral thrush perhaps? Anybody else?

Day 4 of the most foul metallic taste in my mouth, since waking up this morning my mouth and throat both seem sore and a bit prickly. My tongue looks a little pale and off colour and I have an area inside both cheeks which feels a bit bumpy and sore.

I do suspect I have the onset of CV due to other symptoms but I know the first two US patients were confirmed as having oral thrush with CV.

Does anybody else on here have this or recognise the taste? It's driving me doolally.

I know a guy who very much suspects he’s had CV. One of the things he noticed was a metallic taste and unpleasant sensation on the tongue and down his throat. The good news is he was only ill for about 5 or 6 days and is feeling much better.

I hope you get well soon OP, and all the other PPs who aren’t feeling well.

Keep us posted, every little tip is helpful to hear:) Hopefully if it is it stays very mild for everyone.

This Metallica taste started for me on Saturday, I had tonsil stones so I assumed it linked to that. I have been gargling salt water but now I'm concerned it's something more?

Roostersmum2 · 23/03/2020 15:42

It has been observed that a lot of very mild cases present with only this symptom.

That is music to my ears, thank you.

Thank you to all of you who are taking the time to reply. I really do appreciate it.

About two weeks ago I had really painful legs when I was out shopping, all up my legs toward my bum. I remember this clearly as I remarked to DH that it was very unusual. I'm wondering whether I had it then. I do hope not as I had direct contact with my poor DM and god knows how many others Sad

If I'm one of the lucky ones who gets this mind I will be so so thankful, because I've always thought it would be a death sentence for me. I don't have any underlying health issues per say, but my immune system is terribly low after I battled sepsis last year.

When are the govt, NHS etc going to acknowledge there is more to this than bloody coughing & fever?! Speaking of coughing, according to NHS website a continous cough includes 3 or more coughing bouts in 24 hours which has been me recently. I honestly thought it meant coughing continously, repeatedly.

Roostersmum2 · 23/03/2020 15:54

I suspect they know there is alot more to it than fever and coughing, but are focussing on those symptoms because they tend to be what people have if they have it badly, iykwim?

I think if they warned about every symptom like we have then they'd be even more under pressure with calls and people turning up. Still, it should be more widely acknowledged absolutely.

I've probably been spreading this around for two weeks if I look back to when I had leg pain, if this is what that was. I began isolating 5 days ago and used my own initiative after I had diarreah.

I've been glued to the internet since this all began so I knew that was a symptom, but some People don't bother with social media and they wouldn't have a clue.

No wonder it is spreading so quickly

roostermum. I have oral trush too. Use a bit of toothpaste on your toothbrush (or ideally a new toothbrush) and brush your tongue several times a day. Try and get as far back as you can (without gagging) as you want to try and clear the fungus off. Remember to spit out well.

Campervan69 · 23/03/2020 17:02

I have had this weird metallic taste all week and also felt incredibly tired I've been going to bed really early and my glands have felt up - my throat felt a bit blocked but it hasn't developed into anything further.

Roostersmum2 · 23/03/2020 17:59

Thanks for the toothbrush tip I'll give that a try tempest. My tongue has a slight yellow tinge (yuck, I know) and not the thick white coating that I would have expected. I'm still fairly confident it is oral thrush though.

That's really positive Campervan. I'm hoping (like a PP suggested) that for some of us we will get these mild nuisances and nothing else. Fingers crossed that'll be it for you too

I’ve used baking soda in the past to help get rid of oral thrush
If you google it it will tell you how to do it

Roostersmum2 · 23/03/2020 18:09

Thanks itsjustme I will see if I have any laying about in the cupboard
