Food delivery slots

There's NO slots on any supermarket for the next month. Will they bring out new ones? How are we meant to get food if we're isolating?

Apologies I thought we were talking about if they wanted food delivery slots.

OvaHere · 23/03/2020 00:00

Keep randomly checking for slots. I have a Sainsbury's delivery pass and it's been fully booked for 3 weeks ahead for around the last 2 weeks.

Tonight I happened to check around 6.30pm and two slots were available for first thing tomorrow (nothing else, just those two).

Whether most of my order will arrive of course is another matter!

Petiolaris · 23/03/2020 00:06

The Tesco app has crashed because of everyone trying for delivery slots at midnight. I’ve finally got on and the Monday slots aren’t even available yet. So I guess they aren’t released at midnight. Does anyone know what time they’re released?

Keep checking Ocado, they keep bringing some out. Got on their last night after queuing and came today.
Everything I ordered was there, including rice, pasta and other cupboard essentials. X

copper where are you based? I have a huge Ocado basket waiting to checkout but no slots in my area.
We have a Waitrose shop due on Tuesday and I'm really anxious to see what turns up.

ursuslemonade · 23/03/2020 00:45

Gotta agree with PPs. Keep checking the various sites. Unexpectedly I got a slot on Sunday afternoon for this pm with Sainsbury's. What is going to turn up is another question...

I couldn’t get any online slots and none of the supermarkets are responding to people asking on SM how we’re (sick/vulnerable/elderly) supposed to get shopping if in isolation. While I’ve seen many offers locally of support I’m not sure how that’s going to work logistically. Elderly people may not have online banking and I can’t see them handing over their bank card and pin to a local stranger.

Shops really ought to devise something more appropriate for people unable to leave the house.

Thankfully my partner started a weeks holiday today and managed to make nhs hour at Tesco’s. The lovely people at the shop handed him a bunch of flowers and thanked him, which was a lovely touch. Usually he’d have been working today though and not made it in.

@Petiolaris Looking on there now, they only go up to April 12, but they went up to April 19 last night. I have one booked for April 16 and that's still showing though.

Hopefully they'll get some more drivers and pickers etc.

Eireni · 23/03/2020 07:03

I usually use Sainsbo’s app for click & collect every 2 weeks. Logged on today and it has updated, not taking new app registrations, and won’t allow delivery slots unless the app recognises you as “elderly or vulnerable” which is a good thing. It says they’ll add more click & collect locations today, they’re not there yet though.

Petiolaris · 23/03/2020 11:24

Yes Tesco only goes up to Sun 12th, it should have rolled over to Mon 13th by now. Starting to worry that I won’t be able to get a delivery and will have to risk my health by going out.

middleager · 23/03/2020 11:26

I used to get a regular delivery too.
I put today's Tesco order in 3 weeks ago and Tesco removed it last night without warning.
You cannot rely on the service even if you do get a slot.
Heaven help those who are elderly, SI or don't drive.
