What’s stopping the virus being transmitted via the hands of the people preparing the food, the packaging and again the hands of the people delivering?

If you are queuing up in a takeaway too that will be an issue.
I just can’t see how this will work? isn’t this risky too?

Well McDonald’s is closing, and I think others will follow it.

Everything is risky but people still need to eat. No different from buying bread or milk from a shop

All you can do is take precautions, no direct contact with delivery driver. Throw away all packaging straight after putting food on plates and then wash hands

Unless you have hoarded you’re going to need to take managed risks if you want to eat

They should be practising good hygiene.

I genuinely can't believe McDonald's is closing. Always thought they'd still be standing among the burning rubble of civilization.

Its probably closing this week but I got a takeaway from our deli last week. Open door with sleeve, keep your distance when queuing, staff wear gloves, pay by contactless, don't touch anything and use hand sanitiser after you leave. However it's not sustainable so will probably shut.

Personally I wouldn’t be having takeaways

Many people who work in them are on low wages and are likely in jobs whereby they aren’t fully paid if sick or isolating
As such many will go into work ill

I can understand why they’re doing it though

McDonald’s closing is a massive signal. 7pm Monday indicates we are nearly there. Greggs, BK, KFC etc will surely follow.
