AIBU to think we are all doomed?

DH went to local little shop to get milk (and beer Grin) Practising social distancing standing in the queue. Guy comes in and stands so close behind him he can feel his breath on the back of his neck and smell the beer he'd had. Told me this when he got home - I said why didn't you say anything, he said the guy was a big meathead and if I'd seen I wouldn't have said anything either! Meathead had a kid that stayed outside on a bike and as meathead came in he said to the kid something like "stop moaning or I'll punch you."
Is this the level of stupidity we are having to deal with? What is it that people are not understanding??
Reports on the news today of people flocking to the beach - one near us had to be shut cos there were thousands of people there. THOUSANDS!
MIL lives right on the seafront and said people today were out in droves!
I haven't been out in 3 days and before that only to get shopping.
DH is an essential worker so has been out to work. I won't let him touch DS when he gets home until he has changed his clothes and washed and antibaced his hands.
Do people seriously not understand that their actions are going to kill people? Or is it that they just don't care? Sad

Yep you are right we are doomed. Same in my area, people flocking to the beach. All getting drunk on harbour arms in big groups. Teenagers out on bikes in large groups, neighbours going on endless trips to and fro in their cars complete with beach equipment. I've kept our children in now for a full week

People aren't listening, they are either to thick too, uneducated or misguided by the transparency of the government. IQs must be seriously low round my area

CowgirlBride · 22/03/2020 19:27

I honestly think the government needs to implement a complete lockdown now as clearly people are not intelligent enough to follow guidelines for themselves! I think the should have done it a week ago.

You only have to read half the threads on here to realise that yes we are!

TheMemoryLingers · 22/03/2020 19:29

We are doomed. People are treating this as a bonus holiday. In a year's time those who survive will look back with disbelief.

The80sweregreat · 22/03/2020 19:31

We are doomed.
I have inside info that people under 40 are getting this virus. It does not discriminate.
I think they want to ' fight it on the local beach' ! I'm fuming and so sad for the nhs staff and admin staff and teaching staff that will still have to work tomorrow.
I'm beyond depressed.

TheMemoryLingers · 22/03/2020 19:34

I can't bear to watch this disaster play out. I feel physically sick at the sight of people flocking to beaches and so on.

0hT00dles · 22/03/2020 19:35

All doomed. We live by the seafront (in ireland) and it was scarily busy. Had to get the kids out of the house and went to a beach that usually we'd only meet 1 other person on and it was packed. We walked the opposite direction to everyone mind you (through the watery sand ).

Driving home we took the long way and were met by queues of traffic you'd see on a summers day.

People are not getting the message. Cars were travelling from all over to get to where we always go
To (it's 5 mins drive away but it was too busy to walk!).

It's madness. Utter madness

MyHipsDontLieUnfortunately · 22/03/2020 19:40

That child presumably has to live with him. I find the risk to vulnerable children one of the most disturbing things about this. It's horrific.

CowgirlBride · 22/03/2020 19:40

The thing that annoyed me about meathead is that he will likely not get it or only get it mildly but will potentially spread it to hundreds of other people. Cos he thinks the rules don't apply to him.
The reports on Italy make cry - the whole nation is suffering and that's what is coming our way.

I haven't been to town since Friday when is was busy. Went for a walk today and it was quiet, few other couples/family groups but all gave everyone plenty of room. London are doomed judging by photos and people are so selfish they'll 'evacuate' to the coast.
