Teachers and TAs in school

Hello to any fellow educators, I’m interested in how your school is planning to operate. I work in primary. My head is insisting all staff attend next week, so we can clear cupboards and ‘do jobs we never have time for.’ Then all staff will attend every Monday and then work 2 of the following 4 days. This seems like madness to me!!

I’m not work shy, I want to do it bit to help but the practical part of my brain is questioning the sense in having ALL the staff together, surely if one of us contracts it, we’ll all have to self isolate, meaning no staff to run the school? Before I stick my head over the parapet and mention this though, I could do with knowing what others are actually planning.

One teacher per year group daily, no teachers more than once per week, plus on call rota. Three TAs per two year groups daily plus an on call rota, each TA at least twice per week.

Ridiculous. It should be the minimum number of staff to safely open your school for the number of pupils you have. Your head is endangering life for the sake of getting the public’s moneyworth out of your salaries. I think most people would rather pay you and help the NHS avoid utter catastrophe.

We are all in tomorrow if not isolating/vulnerable- hope then on rota basis. Local NEU has sent out clear advice.

We’ve got the Head plus 4/5 staff going in. Those staff are doing a max of 1 day each week. There were loads of volunteers so those of us who would have had to bring children in have been told to stay home on standby (in case large numbers of staff on the rota need to self isolate). Any vulnerable staff have been emphatically told to stay home.
