Just wondering whether there are any slots avaialable or whether its a genuine case of demand over supply.

Bumping as I'm brewing a theory that the dates are getting "released" but already shown as fully booked as all the online capacity will be used for the elderly, vulnerable and self isolating.

If they issued a statement to this effect, it would make people panic more.

Yes, managed to book an Asda order yesterday for Tuesday for a neighbour. I just happened to log on and it was showing some, so clicked on one expecting it to be cancelled but all seems okay so far. I wonder if they are releasing them when they secure another driver and van, as it there were several timeslots over the day (they went almost immediately though). Sainsbury's are doing something tomorrow aren't they, so wouldn't be surprised if a lot of those which are showing as booked will be released for those people eligible for priority.

nellodee · 22/03/2020 15:58

Nothing up to April 11th available on my local Asda.

Deelish75 · 22/03/2020 16:03

I got an email today from Sainsbury's and they are opening slots for vulnerable and elderly customers tomorrow.
And then I think delivery pass holders (me) get next priority. They are also supposed to be prioritising NHS and key workers too but I'm not sure how they are going about that 🤷‍♀️.

How do they know if you are elderly or vulnerable? Their systems have name and address only...

DdJames · 22/03/2020 16:06

I managed to book a Sainsbury's delivery yesterday for this afternoon. Must have just been released when I was on there trying to get a slot for a few weeks time.

I was expecting it to be a mistake and to wake up to an email saying it had been cancelled but it's still coming- There's a few bits not available or substituted but the essentials I needed are coming!

bluebluezoo · 22/03/2020 16:06

I didn’t get an email today. I use sainsburys for my mum- using my details as she is not internet savvy.

Chanel05 · 22/03/2020 16:08

DH stayed up until midnight on Friday night to get a slot for two weeks time. We're delivery pass holders.

TackyTriceratops · 22/03/2020 16:09

How far in advance can you book online? I'm assuming new slots are released at midnight?

I'm picking up my last booking, a collection, tomorrow at Sainsbury's. Not been able to get a thing since I booked that 10 days ago.

naughtymutha · 22/03/2020 16:15

Ocado only allowing me to book in the next 6 days and no availability every time I try to do my weekly shop.
At this rate,I won't have much choice but to venture out to get essentials but should be ok for a week Confused

claracluck78 · 22/03/2020 16:17

I logged on to Sainsbury's on Thurs and managed to get a delivery for yesterday. They needn't have bothered! No crazy substitutions even for to 30 odd things out of stock.

We have, thankfully, got about 1/3 of the shop but there wasn't a complete meals worth of ingredients delivered.

Marieo · 22/03/2020 16:17

I was wondering about the Sainsbury's thing too, how they are going to identify the elderly, vulnerable and disabled.

rosie1959 · 22/03/2020 16:17

Click and collect just booked with Morrisons for 3rd April a few slots after the 1 st April

Deelish75 · 22/03/2020 16:21

Apparently Sainsbury's are identifying elderly and vulnerable by date of birth and whether you've phoned the vulnerable person's helpline. That's what they quote do in the email.

OutingMyself · 22/03/2020 16:22

I booked one with Tesco for mid April

megletthesecond · 22/03/2020 16:25

No.
Although I was dipping in and out of Sainsburys yesterday and some delivery slots popped up for today.
I just need to pencil in something for 1st April onwards.

Marieo · 22/03/2020 16:25

Ah okay, my brother is 34, has never called the helpline and won't be able to as he has severe MH problems. Guess I'm doing the hour walk with food he can't afford from the local shop with my DS, if we become poorly no one will be able to do it. He doesn't trust strangers so local help groups are no good, it's a miracle he answers the door to the delivery drivers. Last time he was sectioned he was severely underweight, so he will go without food for a while without asking for help from his support worker (who can't go to see him anyway). I know there is no way to universally make it fair, and plenty of people have literally nobody and no way to go shopping; but I do worry about the effect people having to justify their need will have. Before all of this happened him getting a food delivery was one weight off of the mind.

daisypond · 22/03/2020 16:25

No. We keep checking every few hours and all slots booked till mid April. Sainsburys. We put it in last week..

Cerealkillers · 22/03/2020 16:27

Nope, nothing available from any of the supermarkets not even click & collect.

WitchitaMickey · 22/03/2020 16:29

Yesterday I checked asda and sainsburys and both full for delivery and click & collect until mid-April. Checked tesco and luckily they had a c&c slot for today! I think they must be releasing some more every few days. I only had 1 item out of stock and a few subs which were all fine. Keep checking back and you might get lucky.

SlayB · 22/03/2020 16:31

I have one for 30th March Tesco but hardly anything in stock.

Deelish75 · 22/03/2020 16:33

@Marieo

If he’s a delivery pass holder he /you could ring the helpline and see what they say

daisypond · 22/03/2020 16:39

What is a delivery pass?

Marieo · 22/03/2020 16:44

Will try @Deelish75. It's extraordinary times and plenty of people need deliveries, and I know he isn't more deserving than anyone else, but it's worth a go.

Deelish75 · 22/03/2020 16:45
