Severity of illness in children

Kids can be seriously ill with coronavirus.

This Chinese study was recently published using paediatric data from 2000+ cases. It suggests that babies under 1yo (where 10% of these cases are severe or critical) and younger children 1-5yo (7% are severe or critical) do seem to be significantly affected by coronavirus.

So, will there be sufficient paediatric provision in our hospitals if this plays out in our country with significant numbers of the population infected? Thoughts? I think I read somewhere that paediatric ventilators were potentially being repurposed for adults.... But that could just be scaremongering.

That is scaremongering. The NHS has bought more pediatric ventilators and is planning to buy more.

Excellent. Thank you* @GrumpyHoonMain*
