I have a delivery every Sunday morning from Sainsburys and always used to reserve the slot three weeks in advance which is why I still have one coming today (no idea when I will have another).
I've just been sent a list of substitutes and, after laughing at and sharing on "WTF substitute is this" threads over the years, wanted to say a big thank you to the pickers who have done a very good job for me this morning.
I asked a dozen or so neighbours if there was anything they wanted as well as ordering what we wanted ourselves so there were some requests for things which have been impossible to get for ages like loo roll & tinned tomatoes so they are missing but the substitutes are very sensible and all the sort of things I would have got myself had I been faced with similarly empty shelves. None of us will like eating frozen beans rather than peas but, if that is the only veg there is and it keeps us healthy, then I don't care and I am grateful to the picker who gave us that rather than thinking it was peas or nothing.
Out of 20 or so substitutes, only 1 item definitely needs to be returned and I am waiting for a self-isolating neighbour to confirm on a couple of other items.
