Specific newborn/young toddler guidance

Has anyone seen any specific guidance around self isolating if a member of the household gets CV when there is a 5 week breastfed baby and 19 month old toddler in the house?

I know we’d all have to isolate for 14 days but do we need to do it within the house?

What if I got it? I can’t stay away from the newborn as I’m feeding him. If DH got it would he have to stay away from all of us or would we just all just stay together and hope we all get a mild case?

I Can’t find clear guidance on this for children within a household

Advice from WHO is to carry on breastfeeding. DH would have to stay with you because by the point you realised he has it, he'd have been contagious anyway so you'd need to all stay in for the 14 days.

I think the idea of individual members of a household self isolating from each other is unrealistic and ridiculous for most people. You need to isolate as a family unit and look after each other.

@snuggybunny yes that’s what I thought. God knows how you’d do it within a household.

If you had a large mansion with loads of bathrooms and a spare kitchen maybe but even with small children and babies I'd expect help from the other parent

DS1 (nearly 4) probably has it, DS2 is 7 weeks old and breastfed. Its impossible to self isolate properly in a small flat so what we're doing is I look after DS1 and only really breastfeed DS2, DH does most of the cuddling/nappy changes etc.

No one is leaving the house for 14 days, DM is kindly dropping off bread/milk etc outside and we are having freezer/cupboard meals.

My whole house has been in isolation now for almost 2 weeks and we will continue to isolate as long as necessary. My 3 year old was ill first, then my 1 year old, then I started feeling ill and now my husband does too. We've just been isolating from the outside world but still living normally within the house if that makes sense? And I have continued to breastfeed and co sleep with my one year old as advice currently says breastfeeding is fine.

Yep, you'd need to self-isolate as a household. La Leche League has some good advice on breastfeeding, specifically during this outbreak.
