I've been thinking about this tonight. I've been stood in supermarkets ques in close proximity to people. It's difficult to avoid doing this when the supermarkets are so busy.

My supermarket had taped out lines on the floor so that you stand 1m apart in the queue.

Doesn’t yours have floor markings? My local M and S does, and they’re policed by floor staff to make sure people are keeping apart.

My local sainsburys have line markings at 1metre and Tesco have signs asking people to stand there until the cashier is ready for them (we're allowed to load the belt, but your stand about a trolley length away from the person in front of you)

Yep, more stores are implementing distance guidelines.

I went to 2 pharmacies today and both had a barrier in place - you had to stand about 2 metres away from the counter to speak to staff and only approach the till to pay. Signs stating to keep the same distance away from others in front of you in the queue

At Boots and Tesco!

2 metres apart

My local supermarkets definitely don’t have lines and when you stand so far back people try to push in the space aswell as they assume you are not in the queue

No they don't here unfortunately. Maybe it'll start being implemented. I really hope it does.
