Weird priorities in Italy

So it's being reported this evening that on top of existing measures people in Lombardy will no longer be able to exercise outdoors or use vending machines.

Now I understand the vending machines thing, but taking some basic exercise is good for mental health and physical wellbeing, and surely if taken in isolation will have a very low to negligible risk of contracting coronavirus. It will also limit people's intake of vitamin D by locking them indoors.

In the meantime, Italian supermarkets stay open, which I would suspect carries a far higher risk of infection.

Wouldn't it make sense to shut supermarkets and deliver rations rather than stop people exercising? This just doesn't make any sense.

This is directly relevant to the UK as it will probably be us in a week or two.

@AnnaMagnani it was a bit like that, then councils started closing parks, beaches, popular nature spots etc. Now you can only exercise alone in the immediate vicinity of your home.

Dd is living in Madrid. She has left her apartment once this week and that was to get groceries. Everyone that's out is being questioned as to where they're going. She expects no change in this situation for at least 2 weeks. Luckily she has a balcony so she can get fresh air.

@Scrowy hope you got some ideas from @Coquohvan @Triglesoffy and @onalongsabbatical?!
Please - if you can - contact your local MP.
How are other Farmers dealing with this?
It is vital you are protected.
Very best wishes

@scrowy Buy some biohazard tape and stick it to your gates? I bet that would put them right off - and it wouldn't be a lie, the gates are a biohazard!

onalongsabbatical · 22/03/2020 10:25

Biohazard tape is a brilliant idea - Amaz sell it, many kinds. Signs too. Could be a very effective deterrent.
