Just curious as if it’s long term I may need to order more books etc. Obviously I know delivery’s of these items won’t be a priority but I would be interested to know if they still would be delivered to keep people entertained while in lockdown.

I think deliveries are still happening in Italy and France. Not sure how strict Hubei was. Would like to know. Have added a few books to the tbr pile and have enough old unread ones for the DCs.

delilahbucket · 21/03/2020 21:05

Yes we will. Even in France I believe that businesses are still able to leave home to send items to customers. I hope anyway, as I'm an online retailer who is self employed.

chipsandgin · 21/03/2020 21:08

The postal service stopped in France today but I’m presuming the delivery services are still running?

Frenchfemme · 21/03/2020 21:08

I’m in France. Postal services and deliveries still happening, but some delivery services are taking a little longer than normal.

TheCanterburyWhales · 21/03/2020 21:08

We are doing in Italy. Contactless signing etc and they are in protective gear. Couriers seem to be around as much as ever, posties less.

TheCanterburyWhales · 21/03/2020 21:09

I think our postal service will stop too.

Jerseygaly · 21/03/2020 21:13

Maybe get a cheap kindle or library app for your area

stella1know · 21/03/2020 21:28

@chipsandgin can u tell us more or link please? Makes sense to protect post people but if we are relying on deliveries 🙁

sunshinesupermum · 21/03/2020 21:33

Post offices in France closed on Wednesday.

sunshinesupermum · 21/03/2020 21:34

PS only know this because a letter we posted my sister in law was not delivered.

TinyTimsCrutch · 21/03/2020 21:36

Royal Mail classed as key workers so should carry on.

chipsandgin · 22/03/2020 09:02

@stella1know not a link - was just my Mum telling me my Mother’s Day cars wouldn’t arrive because their postal service has been suspended! They’re in full lockdown & have to have papers to leave the house. They’ve also shut the flower deliveries down etc. I’ll find out about other deliveries later - they don’t have the same set up for supermarket deliveries that we do there but I think whomever does Amazon etc are still delivering (but without contact or signatures - just leaving a safe distance from the house).

stella1know · 22/03/2020 10:27

Thanks @chipsandgin , wouldn’t have expected that.

HoldMeCloserTonyDanza · 22/03/2020 10:28

We can’t know for sure, but likely yes and likely they will take longer.

SushiGo · 22/03/2020 10:31

I think they will stay open. It's a way of keeping products and essentials moving around the country with minimal risk, better than lots more people feeling they have to go out to buy supplies.

Hopefully it will also shield some of the economic impact if some companies can keep going as delivery options as well.
